1. అబీయా తన పితరులతో కూడ నిద్రింపగా జనులు అతనిని దావీదు పట్టణమందు పాతిపెట్టిరి; అతనికి బదులుగా అతని కుమారుడైన ఆసా రాజాయెను. ఇతని దినములలో దేశము పది సంవత్సరములు నెమ్మది పొందెను.

1. Asa did what was good and pleasing to the LORD, his God,

2. ఆసాతన దేవుడైన యెహోవా దృష్టికి అనుకూలముగాను యథార్థముగాను నడచినవాడై

2. removing the heathen altars and the high places, breaking to pieces the sacred pillars, and cutting down the sacred poles.

3. అన్యదేవతల బలిపీఠములను పడగొట్టి ఉన్నతస్థలములను పాడుచేసి ప్రతిమలను పగులగొట్టి దేవతా స్తంభములను కొట్టివేయించి

3. He commanded Judah to seek the LORD, the God of their fathers, and to observe the law and its commands.

4. వారి పితరుల దేవుడైన యెహోవాను ఆశ్రయించుటకును, ధర్మశాస్త్రమునుబట్టియు విధినిబట్టియు క్రియలు జరిగించుటకును, యూదావారికి ఆజ్ఞాపించి

4. He removed the high places and incense stands from all the cities of Judah, and under him the kingdom had peace.

5. ఉన్నత స్థలములను సూర్య దేవతాస్తంభములను యూదావారి పట్టణములన్నిటిలోనుండి తీసివేసెను. అతనియేలు బడియందు రాజ్యము నెమ్మదిగా ఉండెను.

5. He built fortified cities in Judah, for the land had peace and no war was waged against him during these years, because the LORD had given him peace.

6. ఆ సంవత్సరములలో అతనికి యుద్ధములు లేక పోవుటచేత దేశములో నెమ్మదికలిగియుండెను; యెహోవా అతనికి విశ్రాంతి దయచేసియుండగా అతడు యూదా దేశమున ప్రాకారములుగల పట్టణములను కట్టించెను.

6. He said to Judah: 'Let us build these cities and surround them with walls, towers, gates and bars. The land is still ours, for we have sought the LORD, our God; we sought him, and he has given us rest on every side.' So they built and prospered.

7. అతడు యూదావారికి ఈలాగు ప్రకటనచేసెనుమన దేవుడైన యెహోవాను మనము ఆశ్రయించితివిు, ఆశ్ర యించినందున ఆయన మన చుట్టును నెమ్మది కలుగజేసి యున్నాడు; దేశమందు మనము నిరభ్యంతరముగా తిరుగ వచ్చును, మనము ఈ పట్టణములను కట్టించి, వాటికి ప్రాకారములను గోపురములను గుమ్మములను ద్వారబంధ ములను అమర్చుదము. కాగావారు పట్టణములను కట్టి వృద్ధినొందిరి.

7. Asa had an army of three hundred thousand shield- and lance-bearers from Judah, and two hundred and eighty thousand from Benjamin who carried bucklers and were archers, all of them valiant warriors.

8. ఆ కాలమున డాళ్లను ఈటెలను పట్టుకొను మూడు లక్షలమంది యూదావారును, కేడెములు ధరించివిల్లువేయు రెండు లక్షల ఎనుబది వేలమంది బెన్యామీనీ యులును కూడిన సైన్యము ఆసాకు ఉండెను; వీరందరును పరాక్రమశాలులై యుండిరి.

8. Zerah the Ethiopian moved against them with a force of one million men and three hundred chariots, and he came as far as Mareshah.

9. కూషీయుడైన జెరహు వారిమీద దండెత్తి వేయి వేల సైన్యమును మూడువందల రథములను కూర్చుకొని బయలుదేరి మారేషావరకు రాగా ఆసా అతనికి ఎదురుబోయెను.

9. Asa went out to meet him and set himself in battle array in the valley of Zephathah, near Mareshah.

10. వారు మారేషానొద్ద జెపాతా అను పల్లపుస్థలమందు పంక్తులు తీర్చి యుద్ధము కలుపగా

10. Asa called upon the LORD, his God, praying: 'O LORD, there is none like you to help the powerless against the strong. Help us, O LORD, our God, for we rely on you, and in your name we have come against this multitude. You are the LORD, our God; let no man prevail against you.'

11. ఆసా తన దేవుడైన యెహోవాకు మొఱ్ఱపెట్టి యెహోవా, విస్తారమైన సైన్యముచేతిలో ఓడిపోకుండ బలములేనివారికి సహాయము చేయుటకు నీకన్న ఎవరును లేరు; మా దేవా యెహోవా, మాకు సహాయముచేయుము, నిన్నే నమ్ముకొని యున్నాము, నీ నామమునుబట్టియే యీ సైన్యమును ఎదిరించుటకు బయలుదేరియున్నాము. యెహోవా నీవే మా దేవుడవు, నరమాత్రులను నీ పైని జయమొందనియ్యకుము అని ప్రార్థింపగా

11. And so the LORD defeated the Ethiopians before Asa and Judah, and they fled.

12. యెహోవా ఆ కూషీయులను ఆసాయెదుటను యూదావారి యెదుటను నిలువనియ్యక వారిని మొత్తినందున వారు పారిపోయిరి.

12. Asa and those with him pursued them as far as Gerar, and the Ethiopians fell until there were no survivors, for they were crushed before the LORD and his army, which carried away enormous spoils.

13. ఆసాయును అతనితో కూడనున్న వారును గెరారువరకు వారిని తరుమగా కూషీయులు మరల పంక్తులు తీర్చ లేక యెహోవా భయముచేతను ఆయన సైన్యపు భయముచేతను పారిపోయిరి. యూదావారు విశేషమైన కొల్లసొమ్ము పట్టుకొనిరి.

13. Then the Judahites conquered all the cities around Gerar, for the fear of the LORD was upon them; they despoiled all the cities, for there was much booty in them.

14. గెరారు చుట్టునున్న పట్టణములలోని వారందరి మీదికి యెహోవా భయము వచ్చెను గనుక ఆ పట్టణములన్నిటిని కొల్లపెట్టి, వాటిలోనున్న మిక్కుటమైన కొల్లసొమ్మంతయు దోచుకొనిరి.

14. They attacked also the tents of the cattle-herders and carried off a great number of sheep and camels. Then they returned to Jerusalem.
