1. అబీయా తన పితరులతో కూడ నిద్రింపగా జనులు అతనిని దావీదు పట్టణమందు పాతిపెట్టిరి; అతనికి బదులుగా అతని కుమారుడైన ఆసా రాజాయెను. ఇతని దినములలో దేశము పది సంవత్సరములు నెమ్మది పొందెను.

1. So Abiiah slept with his fathers, and they buryed him in the citie of Dauid, and Asa his sonne reigned in his steade: in whose dayes the lande was quiet ten yeere.

2. ఆసాతన దేవుడైన యెహోవా దృష్టికి అనుకూలముగాను యథార్థముగాను నడచినవాడై

2. And Asa did that was good and right in the eyes of the Lord his God.

3. అన్యదేవతల బలిపీఠములను పడగొట్టి ఉన్నతస్థలములను పాడుచేసి ప్రతిమలను పగులగొట్టి దేవతా స్తంభములను కొట్టివేయించి

3. For he tooke away the altars of the strange gods and the hie places, and brake downe the images, and cut downe the groues,

4. వారి పితరుల దేవుడైన యెహోవాను ఆశ్రయించుటకును, ధర్మశాస్త్రమునుబట్టియు విధినిబట్టియు క్రియలు జరిగించుటకును, యూదావారికి ఆజ్ఞాపించి

4. And commanded Iudah to seeke the Lord God of their fathers, and to doe according to the Lawe and the comandement.

5. ఉన్నత స్థలములను సూర్య దేవతాస్తంభములను యూదావారి పట్టణములన్నిటిలోనుండి తీసివేసెను. అతనియేలు బడియందు రాజ్యము నెమ్మదిగా ఉండెను.

5. And he tooke away out of all the cities of Iudah the hie places, and the images: therefore the kingdome was quiet before him.

6. ఆ సంవత్సరములలో అతనికి యుద్ధములు లేక పోవుటచేత దేశములో నెమ్మదికలిగియుండెను; యెహోవా అతనికి విశ్రాంతి దయచేసియుండగా అతడు యూదా దేశమున ప్రాకారములుగల పట్టణములను కట్టించెను.

6. He built also strong cities in Iudah, because the lande was in rest, and he had no warre in those yeeres: for the Lord had giuen him rest.

7. అతడు యూదావారికి ఈలాగు ప్రకటనచేసెనుమన దేవుడైన యెహోవాను మనము ఆశ్రయించితివిు, ఆశ్ర యించినందున ఆయన మన చుట్టును నెమ్మది కలుగజేసి యున్నాడు; దేశమందు మనము నిరభ్యంతరముగా తిరుగ వచ్చును, మనము ఈ పట్టణములను కట్టించి, వాటికి ప్రాకారములను గోపురములను గుమ్మములను ద్వారబంధ ములను అమర్చుదము. కాగావారు పట్టణములను కట్టి వృద్ధినొందిరి.

7. Therefore he saide to Iudah, Let vs builde these cities and make walles about, and towers, gates, and barres, whiles the lande is before vs: because we haue sought the Lord our God, we haue sought him, and he hath giuen vs rest on euery side: so they built and prospered.

8. ఆ కాలమున డాళ్లను ఈటెలను పట్టుకొను మూడు లక్షలమంది యూదావారును, కేడెములు ధరించివిల్లువేయు రెండు లక్షల ఎనుబది వేలమంది బెన్యామీనీ యులును కూడిన సైన్యము ఆసాకు ఉండెను; వీరందరును పరాక్రమశాలులై యుండిరి.

8. And Asa had an armie of Iudah that bare shieldes and speares, three hundreth thousande, and of Beniamin that bare shieldes and drewe bowes, two hundreth and foure score thousande: all these were valiant men.

9. కూషీయుడైన జెరహు వారిమీద దండెత్తి వేయి వేల సైన్యమును మూడువందల రథములను కూర్చుకొని బయలుదేరి మారేషావరకు రాగా ఆసా అతనికి ఎదురుబోయెను.

9. And there came out against them Zerah of Ethiopia with an hoste of ten hundreth thousande, and three hundreth charets, and came vnto Mareshah.

10. వారు మారేషానొద్ద జెపాతా అను పల్లపుస్థలమందు పంక్తులు తీర్చి యుద్ధము కలుపగా

10. Then Asa went out before him, and they set the battell in aray in the valley of Zephathah beside Mareshah.

11. ఆసా తన దేవుడైన యెహోవాకు మొఱ్ఱపెట్టి యెహోవా, విస్తారమైన సైన్యముచేతిలో ఓడిపోకుండ బలములేనివారికి సహాయము చేయుటకు నీకన్న ఎవరును లేరు; మా దేవా యెహోవా, మాకు సహాయముచేయుము, నిన్నే నమ్ముకొని యున్నాము, నీ నామమునుబట్టియే యీ సైన్యమును ఎదిరించుటకు బయలుదేరియున్నాము. యెహోవా నీవే మా దేవుడవు, నరమాత్రులను నీ పైని జయమొందనియ్యకుము అని ప్రార్థింపగా

11. And Asa cryed vnto the Lord his God, and saide, Lord, it is nothing with thee to helpe with many, or with no power: helpe vs, O Lord our God: for we rest on thee, and in thy Name are we come against this multitude: O Lord, thou art our God, let not man preuaile against thee.

12. యెహోవా ఆ కూషీయులను ఆసాయెదుటను యూదావారి యెదుటను నిలువనియ్యక వారిని మొత్తినందున వారు పారిపోయిరి.

12. So the Lord smote the Ethiopians before Asa and before Iudah, and the Ethiopians fled.

13. ఆసాయును అతనితో కూడనున్న వారును గెరారువరకు వారిని తరుమగా కూషీయులు మరల పంక్తులు తీర్చ లేక యెహోవా భయముచేతను ఆయన సైన్యపు భయముచేతను పారిపోయిరి. యూదావారు విశేషమైన కొల్లసొమ్ము పట్టుకొనిరి.

13. And Asa and the people that was with him, pursued them vnto Gerar. And the Ethiopians hoste was ouerthrowen, so that there was no life in them: for they were destroyed before the Lord and before his hoste: and they caryed away a mightie great spoyle.

14. గెరారు చుట్టునున్న పట్టణములలోని వారందరి మీదికి యెహోవా భయము వచ్చెను గనుక ఆ పట్టణములన్నిటిని కొల్లపెట్టి, వాటిలోనున్న మిక్కుటమైన కొల్లసొమ్మంతయు దోచుకొనిరి.

14. And they smote all the cities rounde about Gerar: for the feare of the Lord came vpon them, and they spoyled all the cities, for there was exceeding much spoyle in them.

15. మరియు వారు పసుల సాలలను పడగొట్టి విస్తారమైన గొఱ్ఱెలను ఒంటెలను సమ కూర్చుకొని యెరూషలేమునకు తిరిగి వచ్చిరి.

15. Yea, and they smote the tents of cattel, and carried away plentie of sheepe and camels, and returned to Ierusalem.
