1. రాజైన యరొబాము ఏలుబడిలో పదునెనిమిదవ సంవత్సరమందు అబీయా యూదావారిమీద ఏలనారం భించెను.

1. In the eighteenth year of the reign of Jeroboam, Abijah began to reign over Judah.

2. అతడు మూడు సంవత్సరములు యెరూష లేమునందు ఏలెను; అతని తల్లిపేరు మీకాయా, ఆమె గిబియా ఊరివాడైన ఊరియేలు కుమార్తె.

2. He reigned three years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name [was] Maachah, daughter of Uriel of Gibeah. And there was war between Abijah and Jeroboam.

3. అబీయాకును యరొబామునకును యుద్ధము కలుగగా అబీయా నాలుగు లక్షలమంది పరాక్రమ శాలుల సైన్యము ఏర్పరచుకొని యుద్ధమునకు సిద్ధముచేసెను; యరొబామును ఎనిమిది లక్షలమంది పరాక్రమశాలులను ఏర్పరచుకొని అతనికి ఎదురుగా వారిని యుద్ధమునకు వ్యూహపరచెను.

3. And Abijah set the battle in array with an army, with mighty men of war, [even] four hundred thousand mighty men. And Jeroboam set the battle in array against him with eight hundred thousand, [they were] mighty warriors of the army.

4. అప్పుడు అబీయా ఎఫ్రాయిము మన్యమందుండు సెమరాయిము కొండమీద నిలిచి ప్రకటించినదేమనగాయరొబామా, ఇశ్రాయేలువారలారా, మీరందరును నాకు చెవియొగ్గుడి.

4. And Abijah rose up from Mount Zemaraim, which is in Mount Ephraim, and said, Hear me, Jeroboam and all Israel:

5. ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజ్యమును ఎల్లప్పుడును ఏలునట్లుగా ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేవుడైన యెహోవా దావీదుతోను అతని సంతతివారితోను భంగము కాజాలని నిబంధన చేసి దానిని వారికిచ్చెనని మీరు తెలిసికొందురు గదా.

5. [Is it] not for you to know that the Lord God of Israel has given a king over Israel forever to David, and to his sons, by a covenant of salt?

6. అయినను దావీదు కుమారుడైన సొలొమోనుకు దాసుడును నెబాతు కుమారుడునగు యరొబాము పనికి మాలిన దుష్టులతో కలిసి లేచి తన యజమానునిమీద తిరుగుబాటు చేసెను.

6. But Jeroboam the [son] of Nebat, the servant of Solomon [the son] of David, has risen up, and has revolted from his master.

7. సొలొమోను కుమారుడైన రెహబాము ఇంకను బాల్యదశలోనుండి ధైర్యము లేనివాడై వారిని ఎదిరించుటకు తగిన శక్తిలేకున్నప్పుడు వారు అతనితో యుద్ధము చేయుటకు సిద్ధమైరి.

7. And there are gathered to him pestilent men, transgressors, and he has risen up against Rehoboam the [son] of Solomon, while Rehoboam was young and fearful in heart, and he withstood him not.

8. ఇప్పుడు దావీదు సంతతి వారి వశముననున్న యెహోవా రాజ్యముతో మీరు యుద్ధముచేయ తెగించెదమని తలంచుచున్నారు. మీరు గొప్ప సైన్యముగా ఉన్నారు; యరొబాము మీకు దేవతలుగా చేయించిన బంగారు దూడలును మీయొద్ద ఉన్నవి.

8. And now you profess to resist the kingdom of the Lord in the hand of the sons of David, and you [are] a great multitude, and with you are golden calves, which Jeroboam made you, as gods.

9. మీరు అహరోను సంతతివారైన యెహోవా యాజకులను, లేవీయులను త్రోసివేసి, అన్యదేశముల జనులు చేయునట్లు మీకొరకు యాజకులను నియమించు కొంటిరిగదా? ఒక కోడెతోను ఏడు గొఱ్ఱె పొట్టేళ్లతోను తన్ను ప్రతిష్ఠించుటకైవచ్చు ప్రతివాడు, దైవములు కాని వాటికి యాజకుడగుచున్నాడు.

9. Did you not cast out the priests of the Lord, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and make for yourselves priests of the people of any [other] land? Whoever came to consecrate himself with a calf of the herd and seven rams, he then became a priest to that which is no god.

10. అయితే యెహోవా మాకు దేవుడైయున్నాడు; మేము ఆయనను విసర్జించిన వారము కాము; అహరోను సంతతివారు యెహోవాకు సేవచేయు యాజకులై యున్నారు; లేవీయులు చేయవలసిన పనులను లేవీయులే చేయుచున్నారు.

10. But we have not forsaken the Lord our God, and His priests, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, ministers unto the Lord; and in their daily courses

11. వారు ఉదయాస్తమయములయందు యెహోవాకు దహనబలులు అర్పించుచు, సుగంధద్రవ్యములతో ధూపము వేయుచు, పవిత్రమైన బల్లమీద సన్నిధిరొట్టెలు ఉంచుచు, బంగారు దీపస్తంభమును ప్రమిదెలను ప్రతి సాయంత్రము ముట్టించుచు వచ్చుచున్నారు; మేము మా దేవుడైన యెహోవా యేర్పరచిన విధినిబట్టి సమస్తము జరిగించుచున్నాము గాని మీరు ఆయనను విసర్జించిన వారైతిరి.

11. they sacrifice to the Lord whole burnt offerings, morning and evening, and compound incense, and [set] the showbread on the pure table; and [there is] the golden lampstand, and the lamps for burning, to light in the evening; for we keep the charge of the Lord God of our fathers; but you have forsaken Him.

12. ఆలోచించుడి, దేవుడే మాకు తోడై మాకు అధిపతిగానున్నాడు, మీ మీద ఆర్భాటము చేయుటకై బూరలు పట్టుకొని ఊదునట్టి ఆయన యాజకులు మా పక్షమున ఉన్నారు; ఇశ్రాయేలువారలారా, మీ పితరుల దేవుడైన యెహోవాతో యుద్ధముచేయకుడి, చేసినను మీరు జయమొందరు.

12. And behold, the Lord and His priests are with us at our head, and the signal trumpets to sound an alarm over us. Children of Israel, fight not against the Lord God of our fathers; for you shall not prosper.

13. యరొబాము వారి వెనుకటి భాగమందు మాటు గాండ్రను కొందరిని ఉంచి, సైన్యము యూదావారికి ముందును మాటుగాండ్ర వారికి వెనుకను ఉండునట్లు చేసెను.

13. Now Jeroboam had caused an ambush to come round upon him from behind; and he [himself] was before Judah, and the ambush behind.

14. యూదావారు తిరిగి చూచి యోధులు తమకు ముందును వెనుకను ఉన్నట్టు తెలిసికొని యెహోవాకు ప్రార్థన చేసిరి, యాజకులును బూరలు ఊదిరి.

14. And Judah looked back, and behold, the battle [was] against them, ahead and behind. And they cried to the Lord, and the priests sounded with the trumpets.

15. అప్పుడు యూదావారు ఆర్భటించిరి; యూదావారు ఆర్భటించి నప్పుడు యరొబామును ఇశ్రాయేలువారందరును అబీయా యెదుటను యూదావారి యెదుటను నిలువలేకుండునట్లు దేవుడు వారిని మొత్తినందున

15. And the men of Judah shouted. And it came to pass, when the men of Judah shouted, that the Lord struck Jeroboam and Israel before Abijah and Judah.

16. ఇశ్రాయేలువారు యూదా వారి యెదుటనుండి పారిపోయిరి. దేవుడు వారిని యూదా వారిచేతికి అప్పగించినందున

16. And the children of Israel fled from before Judah; and the Lord delivered them into their hands.

17. అబీయాయును అతని జనులును వారిని ఘోరముగా సంహరించిరి. ఇశ్రా యేలు వారిలో అయిదు లక్షలమంది పరాక్రమశాలులు హతులైరి.

17. And Abijah and his people struck them with a great slaughter; and there fell slain of Israel five hundred thousand mighty men.

18. ఈ ప్రకారము ఇశ్రాయేలువారు ఆ కాలమందు తగ్గింపబడిరి గాని యూదావారు తమ పితరుల దేవుడైన యెహోవాను ఆశ్రయించిన హేతువుచేత జయ మొందిరి.

18. So the children of Israel were brought low in that day, and the children of Judah prevailed, because they trusted on the Lord God of their fathers.

19. అబీయా యరొబామును తరిమి, బేతేలును దాని గ్రామములను యెషానాను దాని గ్రామములను ఎఫ్రోనును దాని గ్రామములను పట్టుకొనెను.

19. And Abijah pursued after Jeroboam, and he took from him the cities, Bethel and her towns, and Jeshanah and her towns, and Ephron and her towns.

20. అబీయా బ్రదికిన కాలమున యరొబాము మరల బలము పొందలేదు, యెహోవా అతని మొత్తినందుచేత అతడు మరణ మొందెను.

20. And Jeroboam did not recover strength again all the days of Abijah. And the Lord struck him, and he died.

21. అబీయా వృద్ధినొందెను, అతడు పదునాలుగు మంది భార్యలను వివా హము చేసికొని యిరువది యిద్దరు కుమారులను పదునారుగురు కుమార్తెలను కనెను.

21. But Abijah strengthened himself, and took to himself fourteen wives, and he begot twenty-two sons, and sixteen daughters.

22. అబీయా చేసిన యితర కార్యములను గూర్చియు, అతని చర్యను గూర్చియు, అతని కాలమున జరిగిన సంగతులను గూర్చియు ప్రవక్తయైన ఇద్దో రచించిన సటీక గ్రంథమునందు వ్రాయబడియున్నది.

22. And the rest of the acts of Abijah, and his deeds, and his sayings, are written in the book of the prophet Iddo.
