1. రెహబాము రాజ్యము స్థిరపడి తాను బలపరచబడిన తరువాత అతడును ఇశ్రాయేలీయులందరును యెహోవా ధర్మశాస్త్రమును విసర్జించిరి.

1. It happened, when the kingdom of Rechav`am was established, and he was strong, that he forsook the law of the LORD, and all Yisra'el with him.

2. వారు యెహోవా యెడల ద్రోహము చేసినందున రాజైన రెహబాము యొక్క అయిదవ సంవత్సరమందు ఐగుప్తు రాజైన షీషకు వెయ్యిన్ని రెండువందల రథములతోను అరువదివేల గుఱ్ఱపు రౌతులతోను యెరూషలేముమీదికి వచ్చెను.

2. It happened in the fifth year of king Rechav`am, that Shishak king of Mitzrayim came up against Yerushalayim, because they had trespassed against the LORD,

3. అతనితో కూడ ఐగుప్తునుండి వచ్చిన లూబీయులు సుక్కీయులు కూషీ యులు అనువారు లెక్కకు మించియుండిరి.

3. with twelve hundred chariots, and sixty thousand horsemen. The people were without number who came with him out of Mitzrayim: the Luvim, the Sukkiyim, and the Kushim.

4. He took the fortified cities which pertained to Yehudah, and came to Yerushalayim.

5. ప్రవక్తయైన షెమయా రెహబామునొద్దకును, షీషకునకును భయపడి యెరూష లేమునకు వచ్చి కూడియున్న యూదావారి అధిపతుల యొద్దకును వచ్చిమీరు నన్ను విసర్జించితిరి గనుక నేను మిమ్మును షీషకు చేతిలో పడనిచ్చియున్నానని యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చుచున్నాడని చెప్పెను.

5. Now Shemayah the prophet came to Rechav`am, and to the princes of Yehudah, who were gathered together to Yerushalayim because of Shishak, and said to them, Thus says the LORD, You have forsaken me, therefore have I also left you in the hand of Shishak.

6. అప్పుడు ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల అధిపతులును రాజును తమ్మును తాము తగ్గించుకొని యెహోవా న్యాయస్థుడని ఒప్పుకొనిరి.

6. Then the princes of Yisra'el and the king humbled themselves; and they said, the LORD is righteous.

7. వారు తమ్మును తాము తగ్గించుకొనుట యెహోవా చూచెను గనుక యెహోవా వాక్కు షెమయాకు ప్రత్యక్షమైయీలాగు సెలవిచ్చెనువారు తమ్మును తాము తగ్గించుకొనిరి గనుక నేను వారిని నాశనముచేయక, షీషకు ద్వారా నా ఉగ్రతను యెరూషలేముమీద కుమ్మరింపక త్వరలోనే వారికి రక్షణ దయచేసెదను.

7. When the LORD saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the LORD came to Shemayah, saying, They have humbled themselves: I will not destroy them; but I will grant them some deliverance, and my wrath shall not be poured out on Yerushalayim by the hand of Shishak.

8. అయితే నన్ను సేవించుటకును, భూరాజులకు దాసులై యుండుటకును ఎంత భేదమున్నదో వారు తెలిసికొనునట్లు వారు అతనికి దాసులగుదురు.

8. Nevertheless they shall be his servants, that they may know my service, and the service of the kingdoms of the countries.

9. ఐగుప్తురాజైన షీషకు యెరూషలేముమీదికి వచ్చి యెహోవా మందిరపు బొక్కసములన్నిటిని రాజనగరులోని బొక్కసములన్నిటిని దోచుకొని, సొలొమోను చేయించిన బంగారపు డాళ్లను తీసికొనిపోయెను.

9. So Shishak king of Mitzrayim came up against Yerushalayim, and took away the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king's house: he took all away: he took away also the shields of gold which Shlomo had made.

10. వాటికి బదులుగా రాజైన రెహబాము ఇత్తడి డాళ్లను చేయించి వాటిని రాజనగరుయొక్క ద్వారమును కాయు సేవకుల యొక్క అధిపతులకు అప్పగించెను.

10. King Rechav`am made in their place shields of brass, and committed them to the hands of the captains of the guard, who kept the door of the king's house.

11. రాజు యెహోవా మందిరములోనికి ప్రవేశించినప్పుడెల్ల నగరు సేవకులు వచ్చి వాటిని ఎత్తి తరువాత వాటిని మరల గదిలో ఉంచుచు వచ్చిరి.

11. It was so, that as often as the king entered into the house of the LORD, the guard came and bore them, and brought them back into the guard-chamber.

12. అతడు తన్ను తాను తగ్గించుకొనినందున యెహోవా అతని బొత్తిగా నిర్మూలముచేయక, యూదావారు కొంత మట్టుకు మంచితనము ననుసరించుట చూచి తన కోపము అతనిమీదనుండి త్రిప్పుకొనెను.

12. When he humbled himself, the wrath of the LORD turned from him, so as not to destroy him altogether: and moreover in Yehudah there were good things found.

13. రాజైన రెహబాము యెరూషలేమునందు స్థిరపడి యేలుబడి చేసెను; రెహబాము ఏలనారంభించినప్పుడు నలుబదియొక సంవత్సరముల యీడుగల వాడై యుండెను; తన నామమును అచ్చట ఉంచుటకై ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల గోత్రములన్నిటిలోనుండి యెహోవా కోరుకొనిన పట్టణమగు యెరూషలేమునందు అతడు పదునేడు సంవత్సరములు ఏలెను, అతని తల్లి పేరు నయమా, ఆమె అమ్మో నీయురాలు.

13. So king Rechav`am strengthened himself in Yerushalayim, and reigned: for Rechav`am was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Yerushalayim, the city which the LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Yisra'el, to put his name there: and his mother's name was Na`amah the `Ammonite.

14. అతడు తన మనస్సు యెహోవాను వెదకుట యందు నిలుపుకొనక చెడుక్రియలు చేసెను.

14. He did that which was evil, because he didn't set his heart to seek the LORD.

15. రెహబాము చేసిన కార్యములన్నిటిని గూర్చియు షెమయా రచించిన గ్రంథమందును దీర్ఘదర్శియైన ఇద్దో రచించిన వంశావళియందును వ్రాయబడియున్నది.

15. Now the acts of Rechav`am, first and last, aren't they written in the histories of Shemayah the prophet and of `Iddo the seer, after the manner of genealogies? There were wars between Rechav`am and Yarov`am continually.

16. రెహ బామునకును యరొబామునకును యుద్ధము యెడతెగక జరిగెను. రెహబాము తన పితరులతో కూడ నిద్రించి దావీదుపట్టణమందు పాతిపెట్టబడెను, అతని కుమారుడైన అబీయా అతనికి బదులుగా రాజాయెను.

16. Rechav`am slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David: and Aviyah his son reigned in his place.
