1. ఇదియైన తరువాత అమ్మోనీయుల రాజైన నాహాషు చనిపోగా అతని కుమారుడు అతనికి మారుగా రాజాయెను.

1. After this also Nahash the King of the children of Ammon dyed, and his sonne reigned in his stead.

2. అప్పుడు దావీదుహానూను తండ్రియైన నాహాషు నా యెడల దయ చూపించెను గనుక నేను అతనికుమారుని యెడల దయ చూపెదనని యనుకొని, అతని తండ్రి నిమిత్తము అతని పరామర్శించుటకు దూతలను పంపెను. దావీదు సేవకులు హానూనును పరామర్శించుటకై అమ్మోనీయుల దేశమునకు వచ్చినప్పుడు

2. And Dauid said, I will shew kindnesse vnto Hanun the sonne of Nahash, because his father shewed kindnesse vnto me. And Dauid sent messengers to comfort him for his father. So the seruants of Dauid came into the lande of the children of Ammon to Hanun to comfort him.

3. అమ్మోనీయుల యధి పతులు హానూనుతోనిన్ను పరామర్శించుటకై నీ యొద్దకు దావీదు దూతలను పంపుట నీ తండ్రిని ఘనపరచుటకే అని నీవనుకొనుచున్నావా? దేశమును తరచి చూచి దాని నాశనము చేయుటకేగదా అతని సేవకులు నీయొద్దకు వచ్చియున్నారు అని మనవి చేయగా

3. And the princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanun, Thinkest thou that Dauid doeth honour thy father, that he hath sent comforters vnto thee? Are not his seruants come to thee to search, to seeke and to spie out the land?

4. హానూను దావీదు సేవకులను పట్టుకొని, వారిని గొరిగించి, వారి వస్త్రములు పిరుదులు దిగకుండునట్లు నడిమికి కత్తిరించి వారిని పంపివేసెను.

4. Wherefore Hanun tooke Dauids seruants, and shaued them, and cut off their garments by the halfe vnto the buttocks, and sent them away.

5. ఆ మనుష్యులు ఇంటికి వచ్చుచుండగా కొందరువచ్చి వారిని గూర్చిన వార్త దావీదునకు తెలియజేసిరి; వారు బహు లజ్జాక్రాంతులై యుండిరి గనుక వారికి ఎదురుగా మనుష్యులను పంపిమీ గడ్డములు పెరుగుదనుక మీరు యెరికోలో ఉండి తరువాత రండని రాజు వారికి వర్తమాన మంపెను.

5. And there went certaine and tolde Dauid concerning the men: and he sent to meete them (for the men were exceedingly ashamed) and the King saide, Tarie at Iericho, vntill your beardes be growen: then returne.

6. అమ్మోనీయులు దావీదునకు తమయందు అసహ్యము పుట్టించితిమని తెలిసికొనినప్పుడు హానూనును అమ్మోనీయులును అరామ్నహరయీము నుండియు, సిరియా మయకానుండియు సోబానుండియు రథములను గుఱ్ఱపురౌతులను రెండువేల మణుగుల వెండిఇచ్చి బాడిగెకు కుదుర్చుకొనిరి.

6. When the children of Ammon saw that they stanke in the sight of Dauid, then sent Hanun and the children of Ammon a thousande talents of siluer to hire them charets and horsemen out of Aram Naharaim and out of Aram Maachah, and out of Zobah.

7. ముప్పది రెండువేల రథములతో వచ్చునట్లు జీతమిచ్చి మయకారాజును అతని జనులను కుదుర్చుకొనిరి; వీరు వచ్చి మేదెబా ముందరితట్టున దిగిరి, అమ్మోనీయులు తమతమ పట్టణములలోనుండి కూడుకొని యుద్దముచేయుటకు వచ్చిరి.

7. And they hired them two and thirty thousande charets, and the King of Maachah and his people, which came and pitched before Medeba: and the children of Ammon gathered themselues together from their cities, and came to the battell.

8. దావీదు ఈ సంగతి విని యోవాబును సైన్యములోని పరాక్రమశాలుల నందరిని పంపెను.

8. And when Dauid heard, he sent Ioab and all the hoste of the valiant men.

9. అమ్మోనీయులు బయలుదేరి పట్టణపు గవిని యొద్ద యుద్ధపంక్తులు తీర్చిరి, వచ్చిన రాజులు ప్రత్యేకముగా బయట భూమిలో యుద్ధమునకు సిద్ధముగా నిలిచిరి.

9. And the children of Ammon came out, and set their battell in aray at the gate of the citie. And the Kings that were come, were by them selues in the fielde.

10. తాను రెండు సైన్యముల మధ్యను చిక్కుబడి యుండుట చూచి, యోవాబు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులలోని శ్రేష్ఠులలో పరాక్రమశాలులను ఏర్పరచుకొని, సిరియనులకు ఎదురుగా వారిని పంక్తులు తీర్చి,

10. When Ioab saw that the front of the battel was against him before and behinde, then he chose out of all the choyse of Israel, and set him selfe in aray to meete the Aramites.

11. కడమ జనులను అమ్మోనీయులకు ఎదురుగా వ్యూహపరచి, తన సహోదరుడైన అబీషైకి అప్పగించి యిట్లనెను

11. And the rest of the people he deliuered vnto the hande of Abishai his brother, and they put them selues in aray against the children of Ammon.

12. సిరియనుల బలమునకు నేను నిలువ లేకపోయినయెడల నీవు నాకు సహాయము చేయవలెను, అమ్మోనీయుల బలమునకు నీవు నిలువలేకపోయినయెడల నేను నీకు సహాయము చేయుదును.

12. And he saide, If Aram be too strong for me, then thou shalt succour me: and if the children of Ammon preuaile against thee, then I wil succour thee.

13. ధైర్యము కలిగియుండుము, మనము మన జనుల నిమిత్తమును మన దేవుని పట్టణముల నిమిత్తమును ధీరత్వము చూపుదము; యెహోవా తన దృష్టికి ఏది మంచిదో దాని చేయునుగాక.

13. Be strong, and let vs shewe our selues valiant for our people, and for the cities of our God, and let the Lord doe that which is good in his owne sight.

14. ఆ ప్రకారము యోవాబును అతనితో కూడ నున్న జనమును సిరియనులతో యుద్ధము కలుపుటకై చేరపోగా వారు నిలువ లేక అతని యెదుటనుండి తిరిగి పారిపోయిరి.

14. So Ioab and the people that was with him, came neere before the Aramites vnto the battel, and they fled before him.

15. సిరియనులు తిరిగి పారిపోవుట అమ్మోనీయులు చూచినప్పుడు వారును అతని సహోదరుడైన అబీషైముందర నిలువలేక తిరిగి పారిపోయి పట్టణములో చొచ్చిరి, యోవాబు మరలి యెరూషలేమునకు వచ్చెను.

15. And when the children of Ammon sawe that the Aramites fled, they fled also before Abishai his brother, and entred into the citie: so Ioab came to Ierusalem.

16. తాము ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల చేతిలో ఓడిపోతిమని సిరియనులు తెలిసికొనినప్పుడు వారు దూతలను పంపి, యేటి ఆవలి సిరియనులను పిలిపించుకొనిరి, హదరెజెరుయొక్క సైన్యాధిపతియైన షోపకు వారికి నాయకుడాయెను.

16. And when the Aramites sawe that they were discomfited before Israel, they sent messengers and caused the Aramites to come forth that were beyond the riuer: and Shophach the captaine of the hoste of Hadarezer went before them.

17. దావీదు ఆ సంగతి తెలిసికొని ఇశ్రా యేలీయులనందరిని సమకూర్చి యొర్దాను దాటి వారికి ఎదురుపడి వారియెదుట సైన్యములను వ్యూహపరచెను, దావీదు సిరియనులకు ఎదురుగా సైన్యములను పంక్తులు తీర్చినప్పుడు వారు అతనితో యుద్ధము చేసిరి.

17. And when it was shewed Dauid, he gathered all Israel, and went ouer Iorden, and came vnto them, and put him selfe in aray against them: And when Dauid had put him selfe in battel aray to meete the Aramites, they fought with him.

18. అయితే సిరియనులు ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల యెదుట నిలువక తిరిగి పారి పోయిరి;దావీదు సిరియనులలో ఏడువేల రథికులను నలుబది వేల కాల్బలమును హతముచేసి సైన్యాధిపతియైన షోపకును చంపి వేసెను.

18. But the Aramites fled before Israel, and Dauid destroyed of the Aramites seuen thousand charets, and fourtie thousand footemen, and killed Shophach the captaine of the hoste.

19. తాము ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల చేతిలో ఓడిపోతిమని హదరెజెరుయొక్క సేవకులు తెలిసికొనినప్పుడు వారు దావీదుతో సమాధానపడి అతనికి సేవకులైరి. అంతటినుండి సిరియనులు అమ్మోనీయులకు సహాయము చేయుటకు మనస్సులేక యుండిరి.

19. And when the seruants of Hadarezer sawe that they fell before Israel, they made peace with Dauid, and serued him. And the Aramites would no more succour the children of Ammon.
