1. యూదారాజైన ఆహాజు ఏలుబడిలో పండ్రెండవసంవత్సరమందు ఏలా కుమారుడైన హోషేయ షోమ్రోనులో ఇశ్రాయేలును ఏలనారంభించి తొమ్మిది సంవత్సరములు ఏలెను.

1. It was in the twelfth year of Achaz king of Y'hudah that Hoshea the son of Elah began his reign over Isra'el in Shomron; he ruled for nine years.

2. అతడు తన పూర్వికులైన ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజులు చెడుతనము చేసినంతమట్టుకు చేయకపోయినను, యెహోవా దృష్టికి చెడుతనమే జరిగించెను.

2. He did what was evil from ADONAI's perspective, although he wasn't as bad as the kings of Isra'el who had preceded him.

3. అతని మీదికి అష్షూరురాజైన షల్మనేసెరు యుద్ధమునకు రాగా హోషేయ అతనికి దాసుడై పన్ను ఇచ్చువాడాయెను.

3. Shalman'eser king of Ashur advanced against Hoshea, and Hoshea became his vassal and paid him tribute.

4. అతడు ఐగుప్తురాజైన సోనొద్దకు దూతలను పంపి, పూర్వము తాను ఏటేట ఇచ్చుచు వచ్చినట్లు అష్షూరురాజునకు పన్ను ఇయ్యకపోగా, హోషేయ చేసిన కుట్ర అష్షూరు రాజు తెలిసికొని అతనికి సంకెళ్లు వేయించి బందీగృహములో ఉంచెను.

4. But the king of Ashur found that Hoshea was conspiring [[against him]]- he had sent messengers to So the king of Egypt and not paid his tribute to the king of Ashur, as he had previously done every year. For this the king of Ashur imprisoned him, putting him in chains.

5. అష్షూరురాజు దేశమంతటిమీదికిని షోమ్రోనుమీదికిని వచ్చి మూడు సంవత్సరములు షోమ్రో నును ముట్టడించెను.

5. Then the king of Ashur invaded all the land, advanced on Shomron and put it under siege for three years.

6. హోషేయ యేలుబడిలో తొమ్మిదవ సంవత్సరమందు అష్షూరురాజు షోమ్రోను పట్టణమును పట్టుకొని ఇశ్రాయేలువారిని అష్షూరు దేశములోనికి చెర గొనిపోయి. గోజానునది దగ్గరనున్న హాలహు హాబోరు అను స్థలములందును మాదీయుల పట్టణ ములలోను వారిని ఉంచెను.

6. In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Ashur captured Shomron. He carried Isra'el away captive to Ashur, resettling them in Halach, in Havor on the Gozan River and in the cities of the Medes.

7. ఎందుకనగా ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు ఐగుప్తుదేశ ములో నుండియు, ఐగుప్తురాజైన ఫరోయొక్క బలము క్రిందనుండియు, తమ్మును విడిపించిన తమ దేవుడైన యెహోవా దృష్టికి పాపముచేసి యితర దేవతలయందు భయభక్తులు నిలిపి

7. This came about because the people of Isra'el had sinned against ADONAI their God, who had brought them out of the land of Egypt, out from under the domination of Pharaoh king of Egypt. They feared other gods

8. తమయెదుట నిలువకుండ యెహోవా వెళ్లగొట్టిన జనముల కట్టడలను, ఇశ్రాయేలురాజులు నిర్ణ యించిన కట్టడలను అనుసరించుచు ఉండిరి.

8. and lived by the customs of the nations that ADONAI had expelled ahead of the people of Isra'el and by those of the kings of Isra'el.

9. మరియు ఇశ్రాయేలువారు తమ దేవుడైన యెహోవా విషయములో కపటము గలిగి దుర్బోధలు బోధించుచు, అడవి గుడిసెల నివాసులును ప్రాకారములు గల పట్టణనివాసులును తమ స్థలములన్నిటిలో బలిపీఠములను కట్టుకొని

9. The people of Isra'el secretly did things that were not right, according to ADONAI their God. They built high places for themselves wherever they lived, from the watchtower to the fortified city.

10. యెత్తయిన కొండలన్నిటిమీదనేమి, సకలమైన పచ్చని వృక్షముల క్రిందనేమి, అంతటను విగ్రహములను నిలువబెట్టి దేవతా స్తంభములను నిలిపి

10. They set up standing-stones and sacred poles for themselves on any high hill and under any green tree.

11. తమ యెదుట నిలువకుండ యెహోవా వెళ్లగొట్టిన జనులవాడుక చొప్పున ఉన్నతస్థలములలో ధూపము వేయుచు, చెడుతనము జరిగించుచు, యెహోవాకు కోపము పుట్టించి

11. Then they would make offerings on all the high places, like the nations ADONAI had expelled ahead of them, and would do wicked things to provoke the anger of ADONAI;

12. చేయకూడదని వేటినిగూర్చి యెహోవా తమ కాజ్ఞాపించెనో వాటిని చేసి పూజించు చుండిరి.

12. moreover, they served idols, something ADONAI had expressly told them not to do.

13. అయిననుమీ దుర్మార్గములను విడిచిపెట్టి, నేను మీ పితరులకు ఆజ్ఞాపించినట్టియు, నా సేవకులగు ప్రవక్తలద్వారా మీకప్పగించినట్టియు ధర్మశాస్త్రమునుబట్టి నా ఆజ్ఞలను కట్టడలను ఆచరించుడని సెలవిచ్చి, ప్రవక్త లందరిద్వారాను దీర్ఘదర్శులద్వారాను యెహోవా ఇశ్రా యేలువారికిని యూదావారికిని సాక్ష్యము పలికించినను,

13. ADONAI had warned Isra'el and Y'hudah in advance through every prophet and seer, 'Turn from your evil ways; and obey my [mitzvot] and regulations, in accordance with the entire [Torah] which I ordered your ancestors to keep and which I sent to you through my servants the prophets.'

14. వారు విననివారై తమ దేవుడైన యెహోవా దృష్టికి విశ్వాసఘాతుకులైన తమ పితరులు ముష్కరులైనట్లు తామును ముష్కరులైరి.

14. Nevertheless, they refused to listen but made themselves as stubborn as their ancestors, who did not put their trust in ADONAI their God.

15. వారు ఆయన కట్టడలను, తమ పితరులతో ఆయన చేసిన నిబంధనను, ఆయన తమకు నిర్ణ యించిన ధర్మశాస్త్రమును విసర్జించి వ్యర్థమైనదాని అనుస రించుచు, వ్యర్థులైవారి వాడుకలచొప్పున మీరు చేయ కూడదని యెహోవా తమకు సెలవిచ్చిన తమ చుట్టునున్న ఆ జనుల మర్యాదల ననుసరించి వారివంటివారైరి.

15. Thus they rejected his laws; his covenant, which he had made with their ancestors; and the solemn warnings he had given them. Instead they pursued worthless things and became worthless themselves, imitating the nations around them, whom ADONAI had ordered them not to emulate.

16. వారు తమ దేవుడైన యెహోవా ఆజ్ఞలన్నిటిని యనుసరింపక పోత విగ్రహములైన రెండు దూడలను చేసి దేవతాస్తంభ ములను నిలిపి ఆకాశసమూహమునకు నమస్కరించి బయలు దేవతను పూజించిరి.

16. They abandoned all the [mitzvot] of ADONAI their God. They made cast metal images for themselves, two calves. They made an [asherah]. They worshipped the whole army of heaven. They served Ba'al.

17. మరియు తమ కుమారులను కుమార్తె లను అగ్నిగుండమును దాటించి శకునమును చిల్లంగితనమును వాడుక చేసికొని యెహోవా దృష్టికి చెడుతనము చేయుటకై తమ్మును తాము అమ్ముకొని, ఆయనకు కోపము పుట్టిం చిరి.

17. They had their sons and daughters pass through fire [[as a sacrifice]]. They used divination and magic spells. And they gave themselves over to do what was evil from ADONAI's perspective, thereby provoking him;

18. కాబట్టి యెహోవా ఇశ్రాయేలువారియందు బహుగా కోపగించి, తన సముఖములోనుండి వారిని వెళ్ల గొట్టెను గనుక యూదాగోత్రము గాక మరి యేగోత్రమును శేషించి యుండలేదు.

18. so that ADONAI, by now very angry with Isra'el, removed them from his sight. None was left except the tribe of Y'hudah alone.

19. అయితే యూదావారును తమ దేవుడైన యెహోవా ఆజ్ఞలను విడిచిపెట్టినవారై ఇశ్రాయేలువారు చేసికొనిన కట్టడలను అనుసరించిరి.

19. (However, neither did Y'hudah obey the [mitzvot] of ADONAI their God; rather they lived according to the customs of Isra'el.)

20. అంతట యెహోవా ఇశ్రాయేలువారి సంతతివారినందరిని విసర్జించి, వారిని శ్రమపెట్టి దోపుడుగాండ్ల చేతికప్పగించి, వారిని తన సముఖమునుండి వెళ్లగొట్టెను.

20. Yes, ADONAI came to despise all the descendants of Isra'el. He caused them trouble and handed them over to plunderers, until finally he threw them out of his sight.

21. ఆయన ఇశ్రా యేలు గోత్రములను దావీదు ఇంటివారిలోనుండి విడగొట్టి వేయగా వారు నెబాతు కుమారుడైన యరొబామును రాజుగా చేసికొనిరి. ఈ యరొబాము ఇశ్రాయేలువారు యెహోవాను అనుసరింపకుండ ఆయనమీద వారిని తిరుగ బడచేసి, వారు ఘోరపాపము చేయుటకు కారకు డాయెను.

21. He tore Isra'el away from the house of David. They made Yarov'am the son of N'vat king; and Yarov'am drew Isra'el away from following ADONAI and made them commit a great sin.

22. ఇశ్రాయేలువారు యరొబాము చేసిన పాప ములలో దేనిని విడువక వాటి ననుసరించుచు వచ్చిరి గనుక

22. The people of Isra'el followed the example of all the sins that Yarov'am had committed and did not turn away from them,

23. తన సేవకులైన ప్రవక్తలద్వారా యెహోవా సెల విచ్చిన మాటచొప్పున, ఆయన ఇశ్రాయేలువారిని తన సముఖములోనుండి వెళ్లగొట్టెను. ఆ హేతువుచేత వారు తమ స్వదేశములోనుండి అష్షూరు దేశ ములోనికి చెరగొని పోబడిరి; నేటివరకు వారచ్చట ఉన్నారు.

23. until ADONAI removed Isra'el out of his sight, as he had said he would through all his servants the prophets. Thus Isra'el was carried away captive from their own land to Ashur, and it remains so to this day.

24. అష్షూరురాజు బబులోను, కూతా, అవ్వా, హమాతు, సెపర్వయీము అను తన దేశములలోనుండి జనులనురప్పించి, ఇశ్రాయేలువారికి మారుగా షోమ్రోను పట్టణములలో ఉంచెను గనుక వారు షోమ్రోను దేశమును స్వంతంత్రించు కొని దాని పట్టణములలో కాపురము చేసిరి.

24. The king of Ashur brought people from Bavel, Kutah, 'Ava, Hamat and S'farvayim and settled them in the cities of Shomron in place of the people of Isra'el; they took possession of Shomron and lived in its cities.

25. అయితే వారు కాపురముండ నారంభించినప్పుడు యెహోవా యందు భయభక్తులు లేనివారు గనుక యెహోవా వారి మధ్యకు సింహములను పంపెను, అవి వారిలో కొందరిని చంపెను.

25. When they first came to live there, they did not fear ADONAI. Therefore ADONAI sent lions among them, which killed some of them.

26. తమరు పట్టుకొనిన షోమ్రోను పట్టణములలో తాముంచిన జనులకు ఆ దేశపు దేవుని మర్యాద తెలియ కున్నది గనుక ఆయన సింహములను పంపించెను. ఇశ్రా యేలు దేవుని మర్యాద వారికి తెలియనందున సింహములు వారిని చంపుచున్నవని వారు అష్షూరురాజుతో మనవి చేయగా

26. So they said to the king of Ashur, 'The nations you carried away and settled in the cities of Shomron are not familiar with the rules for worshipping the God of the land. Therefore he has sent lions among them; and they are there, killing them; because they're not familiar with the rules for worshipping the God of the land.'

27. అష్షూరు రాజు అచ్చటనుండి తేబడిన యాజకు లలో ఒకనిని అచ్చటికి మీరు తోడుకొనిపోవుడి; అతడు అచ్చటికి పోయి కాపురముండి ఆ దేశపు దేవుని మర్యాదను వారికి నేర్పవలెనని ఆజ్ఞాపించెను.

27. In response, the king of Ashur gave this order: 'Take back one of the [cohanim] you brought from there. Have him go and live there, and have him teach them the rules for worshipping the God of the land.'

28. కాగా షోమ్రో నులోనుండి వారు పట్టుకొని వచ్చిన యాజకులలో ఒకడు వచ్చి బేతేలు ఊరిలో కాపురముండి, యెహోవాయందు భయభక్తులుగా ఉండతగిన మర్యాదను వారికి బోధించెను గాని

28. So one of the [cohanim] they had carried away captive from Shomron came and lived in Beit-El, and he taught them how they should fear ADONAI.

29. కొందరు జనులు తమ సొంత దేవతలను పెట్టుకొని షోమ్రోనీయులు కట్టుకొనిన ఉన్నతస్థలముల మందిరములలో వాటిని ఉంచుచువచ్చిరి; మరియు వారు తమ తమ పురములలో తమకు దేవతలను కలుగజేసికొనిరి.

29. Nevertheless, every nation made gods of their own and put them in the temples on the high places which the Shomronim had made, every nation in the cities where they lived.

30. బబులోనువారు సుక్కోత్బెనోతు దేవతను, కూతావారునెర్గలు దేవతను, హమాతువారు అషీమా దేవతను,

30. Thus the people from Bavel made Sukkot-B'not, those from Kutah made Nergal, those from Hamat made Ashima,

31. ఆవీయులు నిబ్హజు దేవతను తర్తాకు దేవతను, ఎవరు వారి దేవతను పెట్టు కొనుచుండిరి. సెపర్వీయులు తమ పిల్లలను ఆద్రమ్మె లెకు అనెమ్మెలెకు అను సెపర్వయీముయొక్క దేవతలకు అగ్నిగుండమందు దహించుచుండిరి.

31. the 'Avim made Nivchaz and Tartak, and the S'farvim burned up their children in the fire as sacrifices to Adramelekh and 'Anamelekh the gods of S'farvayim.

32. మరియు జనులు యెహోవాకు భయపడి, ఉన్నత స్థలములనిమిత్తము సామాన్యులలో కొందరిని యాజకులను చేసికొనగా వారు జనులపక్షమున ఉన్నతస్థలములలో కట్టబడిన మందిరములయందు బలులు అర్పించుచుండిరి.

32. So they feared ADONAI, while at the same time they appointed for themselves priests from among themselves to preside at the high places, and they would sacrifice for them in the temples on the high places.

33. ఈ ప్రకారముగా వారు యెహోవాయందు భయభక్తులుగలవారైయుండి, తాము ఏ జనులలోనుండి పట్టబడిరో ఆయా జనుల మర్యాద చొప్పున తమ దేవతలను పూజించుచుండిరి.

33. They both feared ADONAI and served their own gods in the manner customary among the nations from which they had been taken away.

34. నేటి వరకు తమ పూర్వమర్యాదల ప్రకారము వారు చేయుచున్నారు; యెహోవాయందు భయభక్తులు పూనక వారితో నిబంధనచేసి మీరు ఇతర దేవతలకు భయపడ కయు, వాటికి నమస్కరింపకయు, పూజ చేయకయు, బలులు అర్పింపకయు,

34. To this day they continue to follow their former [[pagan]] customs. They do not fear ADONAI. They do not follow the regulations, rulings, [Torah] or [mitzvah] which ADONAI ordered the descendants of Ya'akov, to whom he gave the name Isra'el,

35. మహాధికారము చూపి బాహు బలముచేత ఐగుప్తు దేశములోనుండి మిమ్మును రప్పించిన యెహోవాయందు భయభక్తులు కలిగి ఆయనకు మాత్రమే నమస్కారముచేసి బలులు అర్పింపవలెనని ఇశ్రాయేలని పేరుపెట్టబడిన యాకోబు సంతతివారికి సెలవిచ్చిన దేవుని సేవింపకయు

35. with whom ADONAI had made a covenant and charged them, 'Do not fear other gods or bow down to them, serve them or sacrifice to them.

36. ఆయన ఆజ్ఞాపించిన కట్టడలను గాని విధు లను గాని ధర్మశాస్త్రమును గాని ధర్మమందు దేనిని గాని అనుసరింపకయు ఉన్నారు.

36. On the contrary, you are to fear ADONAI, who brought you out of the land of Egypt with great power and an outstretched arm. Worship him, and sacrifice to him.

37. మరియుఇతర దేవతలను పూజింపక మీరు బ్రదుకు దినములన్నియు మోషే మీకు వ్రాసియిచ్చిన కట్టడలను విధులను, అనగా ధర్మశాస్త్రము ధర్మమంతటిని గైకొనవలెను.

37. You are to observe forever the laws, rulings, [Torah] and [mitzvah] which he wrote for you. You are not to fear other gods,

38. నేను మీతో చేసిన నిబంధనను మరువకయు ఇతర దేవతలను పూజింపకయు ఉండవలెను.

38. and you are not to forget the covenant I made with you. No, you must not fear other gods

39. మీ దేవుడైన యెహోవాయందు భయభక్తులు గలవారై యుండిన యెడల ఆయన మీ శత్రువుల చేతిలోనుండి మిమ్మును విడిపించునని ఆయన సెలవిచ్చినను

39. but must fear ADONAI your God; then he will rescue you from the power of all your enemies.'

40. వారు ఆయన మాటవినక తమ పూర్వపు మర్యాదచొప్పుననే జరిగించుచు వచ్చిరి.

40. However, they didn't listen, but followed their old [[pagan]] practices.

41. ఆ ప్రజలు ఆలాగున యెహోవాయందు భయ భక్తులు గలవారైనను తాము పెట్టుకొనిన విగ్రహములను పూజించుచు వచ్చిరి. మరియు తమ పితరులు చేసినట్లు వారి యింటివారును వారి సంతతివారును నేటివరకు చేయుచున్నారు.

41. So these nations mixed fearing ADONAI with serving their carved idols; likewise their children; and to this day, their descendants do the same as their ancestors did.
