1. Athaliah was the mother of Ahaziah. When she saw that her son was dead, she took over. She began by massacring the entire royal family.

2. But Jehosheba, daughter of King Joram and sister of Ahaziah, took Ahaziah's son Joash and kidnapped him from among the king's sons slated for slaughter. She hid him and his nurse in a private room away from Athaliah. He didn't get killed.

3. అతల్యా దేశమును ఏలుచుండగా ఇతడు ఆరు సంవత్సరములు యెహోవా మందిరమందు దాదితో కూడ దాచబడి యుండెను.

3. He was there with her, hidden away for six years in The Temple of GOD. Athaliah, oblivious to his existence, ruled the country.

4. ఏడవ సంవత్సరమందు యెహోయాదా కావలికాయు వారిమీదను రాజదేహ సంరక్షకులమీదను ఏర్పడియున్న శతాధిపతులను పిలువనంపించి, యెహోవా మందిరము లోనికి వారిని తీసికొని పోయి, యెహోవా మందిరమందు వారిచేత ప్రమాణము చేయించి వారితో నిబంధనచేసి, వారికి ఆ రాజు కుమారుని కనుపరచి యీలాగు ఆజ్ఞాపించెను

4. In the seventh year Jehoiada sent for the captains of the bodyguards and the Palace Security Force. They met him in The Temple of GOD. He made a covenant with them, swore them to secrecy, and only then showed them the young prince.

5. మీరు చేయవలసినదేమనగా, విశ్రాంతి దిన మున లోపల ప్రవేశించు మీరు మూడు భాగములై యొక భాగము రాజమందిరమునకు కావలి కాయువారై యుండవలెను;

5. Then he commanded them, 'These are your instructions: Those of you who come on duty on the Sabbath and guard the palace, and those of you who go off duty on the Sabbath and guard The Temple of GOD, are to join forces at the time of the changing of the guard and form a ring around the young king, weapons at the ready. Kill anyone who tries to break through your ranks. Your job is to stay with the king at all times and places, coming and going.'

6. ఒక భాగము సూరు గుమ్మముదగ్గర కాపు చేయవలెను, ఒక భాగము కాపు కాయువారి వెనుకటి గుమ్మమునొద్ద ఉండవలెను, ఈ ప్రకారము మందిరమును భద్రపరచుటకై మీరు దానిని కాచుకొని యుండవలెను.

7. మరియు విశ్రాంతి దినమున బయలుదేరు మీయందరిలో రెండు భాగములు రాజు దగ్గర యెహోవా మందిరమునకు కాపు కాయువారై యుండవలెను.

8. మీలో ప్రతి మనిషి తన తన ఆయుధములను చేత పట్టుకొని రాజుచుట్టు కాచుకొని యుండవలెను, ఎవడైనను పంక్తులలో ప్రవే శించినయెడల వాని చంపవలెను, రాజు బయలుదేరి సంచ రించునప్పుడెల్ల మీరు అతనియొద్ద ఉండవలెను.

9. శతాధి పతులు యాజకుడైన యెహోయాదా తమ కిచ్చిన ఆజ్ఞ లన్నిటి ప్రకారము చేసిరి, ప్రతి మనిషి తన తన మనుష్యులను తీసికొని విశ్రాంతిదినమున లోపల ప్రవేశింపవలసిన వారితోను, విశ్రాంతిదినమున బయలుదేరవలసిన వారితోను కలిసి యాజకుడైన యెహోయాదా యొద్దకు వచ్చెను.

9. The captains obeyed the orders of Jehoiada the priest. Each took his men, those who came on duty on the Sabbath and those who went off duty on the Sabbath, and presented them to Jehoiada the priest.

10. యాజకుడు మందిరములో ఉన్న దావీదు ఈటెలను డాళ్లను శతాధిపతులకు అప్పగింపగా

10. The priest armed the officers with spears and shields originally belonging to King David, stored in The Temple of GOD.

11. కాపు కాయు వారిలో ప్రతి మనిషి తన తన ఆయుధములను చేత పట్టుకొని బలిపీఠముచెంతను మందిరముచెంతను మందిరము కుడి కొన మొదలుకొని యెడమ కొనవరకు రాజుచుట్టు నిలిచిరి.

11. Well-armed, the guards took up their assigned positions for protecting the king, from one end of The Temple to the other, surrounding both Altar and Temple.

12. అప్పుడు యాజకుడు రాజకుమారుని బయటకు తోడుకొనిపోయి అతని తలమీద కిరీటము పెట్టి, ధర్మ శాస్త్రగ్రంథమును అతని చేతికిచ్చిన తరువాత వారు అతని పట్టాభిషిక్తునిగా చేసి చప్పట్లుకొట్టిరాజు చిరంజీవియగునుగాకని చాటించిరి.

12. Then the priest brought the prince into view, crowned him, handed him the scroll of God's covenant, and made him king. As they anointed him, everyone applauded and shouted, 'Long live the king!'

13. అతల్యా, కాయువారును జనులును కేకలువేయగా విని, యెహోవా మందిరమందున్న జనుల దగ్గరకు వచ్చి

13. Athaliah heard the shouting of guards and people and came to the crowd gathered at The Temple of GOD.

14. రాజు ఎప్పటి మర్యాద చొప్పున ఒక స్తంభముదగ్గర నిలుచుటయు, అధిపతులును బాకా ఊదువారును రాజునొద్ద నిలువబడుటయు, దేశపు వారందరును సంతోషించుచు శృంగధ్వనిచేయుటయు చూచి తన వస్త్రములను చింపుకొనిద్రోహము ద్రోహము అని కేక వేయగా

14. Astonished, she saw the king standing beside the throne, flanked by the captains and heralds, with everybody beside themselves with joy, trumpets blaring. Athaliah ripped her robes in dismay and shouted, 'Treason! Treason!'

15. యాజకుడైన యెహో యాదా సైన్యములోని శతాధిపతులకు యెహోవా మందిరమందు ఆమెను చంపకూడదు, పంక్తుల బయటికి ఆమెను వెళ్లగొట్టుడి; ఆమె పక్షపువారిని ఖడ్గముచేత చంపుడని ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చెను గనుక

15. Jehoiada the priest ordered the military officers, 'Drag her outside and kill anyone who tries to follow her!' (The priest had said, 'Don't kill her inside The Temple of GOD.')

16. రాజమందిరములోనికి గుఱ్ఱములు వచ్చు మార్గమున ఆమెకు దారి ఇచ్చిరి. ఆమె వెళ్లిపోగా వారు ఆమెను అక్కడ పట్టుకొని చంపిరి.

16. So they dragged her out to the palace's horse corral; there they killed her.

17. అప్పుడు యెహోయాదాజనులు యెహోవా వారని ఆయన పేరట రాజుతోను జనులతోను నిబంధన చేయించెను, మరియు అతడు రాజుపేరట జనులతో నిబంధన చేయించెను.

17. Jehoiada now made a covenant between GOD and the king and the people: They were GOD's people. Another covenant was made between the king and the people.

18. The people poured into the temple of Baal and tore it down, smashing altar and images to smithereens. They killed Mattan the priest in front of the altar. Jehoiada then stationed sentries in The Temple of GOD.

19. అతడు శతాధిపతులను అధికారులను కాపుకాయువారిని దేశపు జనులందరిని పిలిపింపగా వారు యెహోవా మందిరములో నున్న రాజునుతీసికొని, కాపుకాయువారి గుమ్మపు మార్గ మున రాజనగరునకు రాగా రాజు సింహాసనముమీద ఆసీనుడాయెను.

19. He arranged for the officers of the bodyguard and the palace security, along with the people themselves, to escort the king down from The Temple of GOD through the Gate of the Guards and into the palace. There he sat on the royal throne.

20. మరియు వారు రాజనగరు దగ్గర అతల్యాను ఖడ్గముచేత చంపిన తరువాత దేశపు జనులంద రును సంతోషించిరి, పట్టణమును నిమ్మళముగా ఉండెను.

20. Everybody celebrated the event. And the city was safe and undisturbed--they had killed Athaliah with the royal sword.

21. Joash was seven years old when he became king.
