1. Athaliah was Ahaziah's mother. She saw that her son was dead, so she got up and killed all the king's family.

2. Jehosheba was King Joram's daughter and Ahaziah's sister. Joash was one of the king's sons. While the other children were being killed, Jehosheba took Joash and hid him. She put him and his nurse in her bedroom, so Jehosheba and the nurse hid Joash from Athaliah. That way Joash was not killed.

3. అతల్యా దేశమును ఏలుచుండగా ఇతడు ఆరు సంవత్సరములు యెహోవా మందిరమందు దాదితో కూడ దాచబడి యుండెను.

3. Then Joash and Jehosheba hid in the Lord's Temple. Joash hid there for six years. During that time Athaliah ruled over the land of Judah.

4. ఏడవ సంవత్సరమందు యెహోయాదా కావలికాయు వారిమీదను రాజదేహ సంరక్షకులమీదను ఏర్పడియున్న శతాధిపతులను పిలువనంపించి, యెహోవా మందిరము లోనికి వారిని తీసికొని పోయి, యెహోవా మందిరమందు వారిచేత ప్రమాణము చేయించి వారితో నిబంధనచేసి, వారికి ఆ రాజు కుమారుని కనుపరచి యీలాగు ఆజ్ఞాపించెను

4. In the seventh year Jehoiada the high priest sent for the captains of the Carites and guards. He brought them together in the Lord's Temple and made an agreement with them. In the Temple he forced them to make a promise. Then he showed the king's son to them.

5. మీరు చేయవలసినదేమనగా, విశ్రాంతి దిన మున లోపల ప్రవేశించు మీరు మూడు భాగములై యొక భాగము రాజమందిరమునకు కావలి కాయువారై యుండవలెను;

5. Then Jehoiada gave them a command. He said, 'This is what you must do. Onethird of you, from those who go on duty on the Sabbath day, must stand guard at the royal palace.

6. ఒక భాగము సూరు గుమ్మముదగ్గర కాపు చేయవలెను, ఒక భాగము కాపు కాయువారి వెనుకటి గుమ్మమునొద్ద ఉండవలెను, ఈ ప్రకారము మందిరమును భద్రపరచుటకై మీరు దానిని కాచుకొని యుండవలెను.

6. Another third will be at the Sur Gate, and the other third will be at the gate behind the guard. This way you will stand guard over the palace on all sides.

7. మరియు విశ్రాంతి దినమున బయలుదేరు మీయందరిలో రెండు భాగములు రాజు దగ్గర యెహోవా మందిరమునకు కాపు కాయువారై యుండవలెను.

7. Your two divisions who go off duty on the Sabbath day will stand guard at the Lord's Temple and protect King Joash.

8. మీలో ప్రతి మనిషి తన తన ఆయుధములను చేత పట్టుకొని రాజుచుట్టు కాచుకొని యుండవలెను, ఎవడైనను పంక్తులలో ప్రవే శించినయెడల వాని చంపవలెను, రాజు బయలుదేరి సంచ రించునప్పుడెల్ల మీరు అతనియొద్ద ఉండవలెను.

8. You must stay with him wherever he goes. The whole group must surround the king. Each guard must have his weapon in his hand, and you must kill anyone who comes too close to you.'

9. శతాధి పతులు యాజకుడైన యెహోయాదా తమ కిచ్చిన ఆజ్ఞ లన్నిటి ప్రకారము చేసిరి, ప్రతి మనిషి తన తన మనుష్యులను తీసికొని విశ్రాంతిదినమున లోపల ప్రవేశింపవలసిన వారితోను, విశ్రాంతిదినమున బయలుదేరవలసిన వారితోను కలిసి యాజకుడైన యెహోయాదా యొద్దకు వచ్చెను.

9. The captains obeyed everything that Jehoiada the priest commanded. Each captain took his men, both those who were going on duty on the Sabbath day and those who were going off duty. All these men went to Jehoiada the priest,

10. యాజకుడు మందిరములో ఉన్న దావీదు ఈటెలను డాళ్లను శతాధిపతులకు అప్పగింపగా

10. and he gave spears and shields to the captains. These were the spears and shields David put in the Lord's Temple.

11. కాపు కాయు వారిలో ప్రతి మనిషి తన తన ఆయుధములను చేత పట్టుకొని బలిపీఠముచెంతను మందిరముచెంతను మందిరము కుడి కొన మొదలుకొని యెడమ కొనవరకు రాజుచుట్టు నిలిచిరి.

11. These guards stood with their weapons in their hands from the right corner of the Temple to the left corner. They stood around the altar and the Temple and around the king when he went to the Temple.

12. అప్పుడు యాజకుడు రాజకుమారుని బయటకు తోడుకొనిపోయి అతని తలమీద కిరీటము పెట్టి, ధర్మ శాస్త్రగ్రంథమును అతని చేతికిచ్చిన తరువాత వారు అతని పట్టాభిషిక్తునిగా చేసి చప్పట్లుకొట్టిరాజు చిరంజీవియగునుగాకని చాటించిరి.

12. These men brought out Joash. They put the crown on him and gave him a copy of the agreement. Then they anointed him and made him the new king. They clapped their hands and shouted, 'Long live the king!'

13. అతల్యా, కాయువారును జనులును కేకలువేయగా విని, యెహోవా మందిరమందున్న జనుల దగ్గరకు వచ్చి

13. Queen Athaliah heard the noise from the guards and the people, so she went to them at the Lord's Temple.

14. రాజు ఎప్పటి మర్యాద చొప్పున ఒక స్తంభముదగ్గర నిలుచుటయు, అధిపతులును బాకా ఊదువారును రాజునొద్ద నిలువబడుటయు, దేశపు వారందరును సంతోషించుచు శృంగధ్వనిచేయుటయు చూచి తన వస్త్రములను చింపుకొనిద్రోహము ద్రోహము అని కేక వేయగా

14. Athaliah saw the king by the column where he usually stood. She also saw the leaders and men playing the trumpets for him. She saw that all the people were very happy. She heard the trumpets, and she tore her clothes to show she was upset. Then Athaliah shouted, 'Treason! Treason!'

15. యాజకుడైన యెహో యాదా సైన్యములోని శతాధిపతులకు యెహోవా మందిరమందు ఆమెను చంపకూడదు, పంక్తుల బయటికి ఆమెను వెళ్లగొట్టుడి; ఆమె పక్షపువారిని ఖడ్గముచేత చంపుడని ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చెను గనుక

15. Jehoiada the priest gave a command to the captains who were in charge of the soldiers. Jehoiada told them, 'Take Athaliah outside of the Temple area. Kill any of her followers, but don't kill them in the Lord's Temple.'

16. రాజమందిరములోనికి గుఱ్ఱములు వచ్చు మార్గమున ఆమెకు దారి ఇచ్చిరి. ఆమె వెళ్లిపోగా వారు ఆమెను అక్కడ పట్టుకొని చంపిరి.

16. So the soldiers grabbed Athaliah and killed her as soon as she went through the horse's entrance to the palace.

17. అప్పుడు యెహోయాదాజనులు యెహోవా వారని ఆయన పేరట రాజుతోను జనులతోను నిబంధన చేయించెను, మరియు అతడు రాజుపేరట జనులతో నిబంధన చేయించెను.

17. Then Jehoiada made the agreement between the Lord and the king and the people. This agreement showed that the king and the people belonged to the Lord. Jehoiada also made the agreement between the king and the people.

18. Then all the people went to the temple of Baal. They destroyed the statue of Baal and his altars. They broke them into many pieces. They also killed Baal's priest, Mattan, in front of the altars. So Jehoiada the priest put men in charge of maintaining the Lord's Temple.

19. అతడు శతాధిపతులను అధికారులను కాపుకాయువారిని దేశపు జనులందరిని పిలిపింపగా వారు యెహోవా మందిరములో నున్న రాజునుతీసికొని, కాపుకాయువారి గుమ్మపు మార్గ మున రాజనగరునకు రాగా రాజు సింహాసనముమీద ఆసీనుడాయెను.

19. The priest led all the people. They went from the Lord's Temple to the king's palace. The king's special guards and the captains went with the king, and all the other people followed them. They went to the entrance to the king's palace. Then King Joash sat on the throne.

20. మరియు వారు రాజనగరు దగ్గర అతల్యాను ఖడ్గముచేత చంపిన తరువాత దేశపు జనులంద రును సంతోషించిరి, పట్టణమును నిమ్మళముగా ఉండెను.

20. All the people were happy, and the city was peaceful. And Queen Athaliah was killed with a sword near the king's palace.

21. Joash was seven years old when he became king.
