1. రెహబామునకు పట్టాభిషేకము చేయుటకు ఇశ్రా యేలీయులందరును షెకెమునకు రాగా రెహబాము షెకె మునకు పోయెను.

1. Rehoboam went to Shechem. All of the people of Israel had gone there to make him king.

2. నెబాతు కుమారుడైన యరొబాము రాజైన సొలొమోను నొద్దనుండి పారి పోయి ఐగుప్తులో నివాసము చేయుచుండెను; యరొబాము ఇంక ఐగుప్తు లోనేయుండి ఆ సమాచారము వినెను.

2. Jeroboam heard about it. He was the son of Nebat. Jeroboam was still in Egypt at that time. He had gone there for safety. He wanted to get away from King Solomon. But now he returned from Egypt.

3. జనులు అతని పిలువనంపగా యరొబామును ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల సమాజ మంతయును వచ్చి రెహబాముతో నీలాగు మనవి చేసిరి.

3. So the people sent for Jeroboam. He and the whole community of Israel went to Rehoboam. They said to him,

4. నీ తండ్రి బరువైన కాడిని మామీద ఉంచెను; నీ తండ్రి నియమించిన కఠినమైన దాస్యమును మామీద అతడు ఉంచిన బరువైన కాడిని నీవు చులకన చేసినయెడల మేము నీకు సేవచేయుదుము.

4. 'Your father put a heavy load on our shoulders. But now make our hard work easier. Make the heavy load on us lighter. Then we'll serve you.'

5. అందుకు రాజుమీరు వెళ్లి మూడు దినములైన తరువాత నాయొద్దకు తిరిగి రండని సెలవియ్యగా జనులు వెళ్లిపోయిరి.

5. Rehoboam answered, 'Go away for three days. Then come back to me.' So the people went away.

6. అప్పుడు రాజైన రెహబాము తన తండ్రియైన సొలొమోను బ్రదికియున్నప్పుడు అతని సముఖమందు సేవచేసిన పెద్దలతో ఆలోచన చేసిఈ జనులకు ఏమి ప్రత్యుత్తరమిచ్చెదనని వారి నడుగగా

6. King Rehoboam asked the elders for advice. They had served his father Solomon while he was still living. Rehoboam asked them, 'What advice can you give me? How should I answer these people?'

7. They replied, 'Serve them today. Give them what they are asking for. Then they'll always serve you.'

8. But Rehoboam didn't accept the advice the elders gave him. Instead, he asked for advice from the young men who had grown up with him and were now serving him.

9. He asked them, 'What's your advice? How should I answer these people? They say to me, 'Make the load your father put on our shoulders lighter.' '

10. అప్పుడు అతనితో కూడ ఎదిగిన ఆ ¸యౌవనస్థులు ఈ ఆలోచన చెప్పిరినీ తండ్రి మా కాడిని బరువైనదిగా చేసెను గాని నీవు దానిని చులకనగా చేయవలెనని నీతో చెప్పుకొనిన యీ జనులకు ఈలాగు ఆజ్ఞ ఇమ్మునా తండ్రి నడుముకంటె నా చిటికెన వ్రేలు పెద్దదిగా ఉండును.

10. The young men who had grown up with him gave their answer. They replied, 'These people say to you, 'Your father put a heavy load on our shoulders. Make it lighter.' Tell them, 'My little finger is stronger than my father's legs.

11. నా తండ్రి మీమీద బరువైన కాడిని పెట్టెను సరే, నేను ఆ కాడిని ఇంక బరువుగా చేయుదును; నా తండ్రి చబుకులతో మిమ్మును శిక్షించెనుసరే, నేను కొరడాలతో మిమ్మును శిక్షించుదును.

11. My father put a heavy load on your shoulders. But I'll make it even heavier. My father beat you with whips. But I'll beat you with bigger whips.' '

12. మూడవ దినమందు నాయొద్దకు రండని రాజు నిర్ణయము చేసియున్నట్లు యరొబామును జనులందరును మూడవ దినమున రెహబాము నొద్దకు వచ్చిరి.

12. Three days later Jeroboam and all of the people returned to Rehoboam. That's because the king had said, 'Come back to me in three days.'

13. అప్పుడు రాజు పెద్దలు చెప్పిన ఆలోచనను నిర్లక్ష్యపెట్టి ¸యౌవనులు చెప్పిన ఆలోచనచొప్పున వారికి కఠినముగా ప్రత్యుత్తరమిచ్చి యిట్లు ఆజ్ఞాపించెను

13. The king answered the people in a mean way. He didn't accept the advice the elders had given him.

14. నా తండ్రి మీ కాడిని బరువుగా చేసెను గాని నేను మీ కాడిని మరి బరువుగా చేయుదును, నా తండ్రి చబుకులతో మిమ్మును శిక్షించెను గాని నేను కొరడాలతో మిమ్మును శిక్షించుదును.

14. Instead, he followed the advice of the young men. He said, 'My father put a heavy load on your shoulders. But I'll make it even heavier. My father beat you with whips. But I'll beat you with bigger whips.'

15. జనులు చేసిన మనవిని రాజు ఈ ప్రకారము అంగీకరింపక పోయెను. షిలోనీయుడైన అహీయాద్వారా నెబాతు కుమారుడైన యరొబాముతో తాను పలికించిన మాట నెరవేర్చవలెనని యెహోవా ఈలాగున జరిగించెను.

15. So the king didn't listen to the people. That's because the Lord had planned it that way. What he had said through Ahijah came true. Ahijah had spoken the Lord's message to Jeroboam, the son of Nebat. Ahijah was from Shiloh.

16. కాబట్టి ఇశ్రాయేలువారందరును రాజు తమ విన్నపమును వినలేదని తెలిసికొని రాజుకీలాగు ప్రత్యుత్తరమిచ్చిరిదావీదులో మాకు భాగమేది? యెష్షయి కుమారునియందు మాకు స్వాస్థ్యము లేదు; ఇశ్రాయేలువారలారా, మీమీ గుడారములకు పోవుడి; దావీదు సంతతివారలారా, మీ వారిని మీరే చూచుకొనుడి అని చెప్పి ఇశ్రాయేలువారు తమ గుడారములకు వెళ్లిపోయిరి.

16. All of the people of Israel saw that the king refused to listen to them. So they answered the king. They said, 'We don't have any share in David's royal family. We don't have any share in Jesse's son. People of Israel, let's go back to our homes. David's royal family, take care of your own kingdom!' So the people of Israel went home.

17. అయితే యూదా పట్ణణములలోనున్న ఇశ్రాయేలువారిని రెహబాము ఏలెను.

17. But Rehoboam still ruled over the Israelites who were living in the towns of Judah.

18. తరువాత రాజైన రెహబాము వెట్టిపని వారిమీద అధికారి యైన అదోరామును పంపగా ఇశ్రాయేలువారందరును రాళ్లతో అతని కొట్టినందున అతడు మరణమాయెను, కాబట్టి రాజైన రెహబాము యెరూషలేమునకు పారిపోవలెనని తన రథముమీద త్వరగా ఎక్కెను.

18. Adoniram was in charge of those who were forced to work hard for King Rehoboam. The king sent him out among all of the Israelites. But they killed him by throwing stones at him. King Rehoboam was able to get away in his chariot. He escaped to Jerusalem.

19. ఈ ప్రకారము ఇశ్రాయేలువారు నేటివరకు జరుగుచున్నట్లు దావీదు సంతతివారిమీద తిరుగుబాటు చేసిరి.

19. Israel has refused to follow the royal family of David to this very day.

20. మరియు యరొబాము తిరిగి వచ్చెనని ఇశ్రాయేలు వారందరు విని, సమా జముగా కూడి, అతని పిలువనంపించి ఇశ్రాయేలువారందరి మీద రాజుగా అతనికి పట్టాభిషేకము చేసిరి; యూదా గోత్రీయులు తప్ప దావీదు సంతతివారిని వెంబడించినవా రెవరును లేకపోయిరి.

20. All of the people of Israel heard that Jeroboam had returned. They sent for him. They wanted him to meet with the whole community. Then they made him king over the entire nation of Israel. Only the tribe of Judah remained true to David's royal family.

21. రెహబాము యెరూషలేమునకు వచ్చిన తరువాత ఇశ్రా యేలువారితో యుద్ధముచేసి, రాజ్యము సొలొమోను కుమారుడైన రెహబాము అను తనకు మరల వచ్చునట్లు చేయుటకై యూదావారందరిలో నుండియు బెన్యామీను గోత్రీయులలోనుండియు యుద్ధ ప్రవీణులైన లక్షయెనుబది వేలమందిని పోగు చేసెను.

21. Rehoboam arrived in Jerusalem. He brought together 180,000 fighting men from the royal house of Judah and the tribe of Benjamin. He had decided to make war against the royal house of Israel. Solomon's son Rehoboam wanted his fighting men to get the kingdom of Israel back for him.

22. అంతట దేవుని వాక్కు దైవజనుడగు షెమయాకు ప్రత్యక్షమై యీలాగు సెలవిచ్చెను

22. But a message from God came to Shemaiah. He was a man of God. God said to him,

23. నీవు సొలొమోను కుమారుడును యూదా రాజునైన రెహబాముతోను యూదావారందరితోను బెన్యామీనీయులందరితోను శేషించినవారందరితోను ఇట్లనుము

23. 'Speak to Solomon's son Rehoboam, the king of Judah. Speak to the royal house of Judah and Benjamin. Also speak to the rest of the people. Tell all of them,

24. యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చునదేమనగాజరిగినది నావలననే జరిగెను; మీరు ఇశ్రాయేలువారగు మీ సహో దరులతో యుద్ధము చేయుటకు వెళ్లక, అందరును మీ యిండ్లకు తిరిగి పోవుడి. కాబట్టి వారు యెహోవా మాటకు లోబడి దానినిబట్టి యుద్ధమునకు పోక నిలిచిరి.

24. 'The Lord says, 'Do not go up to fight against the Israelites. They are your relatives. I want every one of you to go back home. Things have happened exactly the way I planned them.' ' ' So the fighting men obeyed the Lord's message. They went home again, just as he had ordered.

25. తరువాత యరొబాము ఎఫ్రాయిము మన్యమందు షెకెమను పట్టణము కట్టించి అచ్చట కాపురముండి అచ్చట నుండి బయలుదేరి పెనూయేలును కట్టించెను.

25. Jeroboam built up the walls of Shechem. It was in the hill country of Ephraim. Jeroboam made Shechem his home. From there he went out and built up Peniel.

26. ఈ జనులు యెరూషలేమునందున్న యెహోవా మందిరమందు బలులు అర్పించుటకు ఎక్కి పోవుచుండినయెడల ఈ జనుల హృదయము యూదారాజైన రెహబాము అను తమ యజమానుని తట్టు తిరుగును; అప్పుడు వారు నన్ను చంపి యూదా రాజైన రెహబామునొద్ద మరల చేరుదురు; రాజ్యము మరల దావీదు సంతతివారిదగును అని

26. Jeroboam thought, 'My kingdom still isn't secure. It could very easily go back to the royal family of David.

27. యరొ బాము తన హృదయమందు తలంచి

27. Suppose the people of Israel go up to Jerusalem to offer sacrifices at the Lord's temple. If they do, they will again decide to follow Rehoboam as their master. Then they'll kill me. They'll return to King Rehoboam. He is king of Judah.'

28. ఆలోచనచేసి రెండు బంగారపు దూడలు చేయించి, జనులను పిలిచియెరూషలేమునకు పోవుట మీకు బహు కష్టము;

28. So King Jeroboam asked for advice. Then he made two golden statues that looked like calves. He said to the people, 'It's too hard for you to go up to Jerusalem. Israel, here are your gods who brought you up out of Egypt.'

29. ఇశ్రా యేలువారలారా, ఐగుప్తు దేశములోనుండి మిమ్మును రప్పిం చిన మీ దేవుడు ఇవే అని చెప్పి, ఒకటి బేతేలునందును, ఒకటి దానునందును ఉంచెను.

29. He set up one statue in Bethel. He set up the other one in Dan.

30. దానువరకు ఈ రెంటిలో ఒకదానిని జనులు పూజించుటవలన రాజు చేసిన కార్యము పాపమునకు కారణమాయెను.

30. What Jeroboam did was sinful. And it caused Israel to sin. The people even went all the way to Dan to worship the statue that was there.

31. మరియు అతడు ఉన్నత స్థలములను కట్టించి మందిరముగా ఏర్పరచి, లేవీయులు కాని సాధారణమైనవారిలో కొందరిని యాజకులుగా నియ మించెను.

31. Jeroboam built temples for worshiping gods on high places. He appointed all kinds of people as priests. They didn't even have to be Levites.

32. He established a feast. It was on the 15th day of the eighth month. He wanted to make it like the Feast of Booths that was held in Judah. Jeroboam built an altar at Bethel. He offered sacrifices on it. He sacrificed to the calves he had made. He also put priests in Bethel. He did it at the high places he had made.

33. He offered sacrifices on the altar he had built at Bethel. It was on the 15th day of the eighth month. That's the month he had chosen for it. So he established the feast for the people of Israel. And he went up to the altar to sacrifice offerings.
