1. హెబ్రోనులో అబ్నేరు చనిపోయెనను సంగతి సౌలు కుమారుడు విని అధైర్యపడెను, ఇశ్రాయేలు వారి కందరికి ఏమియు తోచకయుండెను.

1. When Saul's son heard that Abner had died at Hebron, his heart failed him, and all Israel was alarmed.

2. సౌలు కుమారునికి సైన్యాధిపతులుండిరి; వారిలో ఒకని పేరు బయనా, రెండవవానిపేరు రేకాబు; వీరు బెన్యామీనీయులకు చేరిన బెయేరోతీయుడగు రిమ్మోను కుమారులు. బెయే రోతుకూడను బెన్యామీనీయుల దేశములో చేరినదని యెంచబడెను.

2. Now, Saul's son had two freebooting chieftains; one was called Baanah, the other Rechab. They were the sons of Rimmon of Beeroth, and Benjaminites -- for Beeroth is regarded as belonging to Benjamin.

3. అయితే బెయేరోతీయులు గిత్తయీమునకు పారిపోయి నేటివరకు అక్కడి కాపురస్థులైయున్నారు.

3. The people of Beeroth had taken refuge in Gittaim, where they have remained to this day as resident foreigners.

4. సౌలు కుమారుడగు యోనాతానునకు కుంటివాడగు కుమారుడు ఒకడుండెను. యెజ్రెయేలునుండి సౌలును గురించియు యోనాతానును గురించియు వర్తమానమువచ్చి నప్పుడు వాడు అయిదేండ్లవాడు; వాని దాది వానిని ఎత్తికొని పరుగు పరుగున పారిపోగా వాడు పడి కుంటివాడాయెను. వాని పేరు మెఫీబోషెతు.

4. Jonathan son of Saul had a son with crippled feet. He was five years old when the news about Saul and Jonathan came from Jezreel. His nurse picked him up and fled but, as she hurried away, he fell and was lamed. His name was Meribbaal.

5. రిమ్మోను కుమారులగు రేకాబును బయనాయును మంచి యెండవేళ బయలుదేరి మధ్యాహ్నకాలమున ఇష్బోషెతు మంచముమీద పండుకొనియుండగా అతని యింటికి వచ్చిరి.

5. The sons of Rimmon of Beeroth, Rechab and Baanah, set out; they came to Ishbaal's house at the hottest part of the day when he was taking his midday rest.

6. గోధుమలు తెచ్చెదమని వేషము వేసికొని వారు ఇంటిలో చొచ్చి, ఇష్బోషెతు పడకటింట మంచము మీద పరుండియుండగా అతనిని కడుపులో పొడిచి తప్పించుకొనిపోయిరి.

6. The woman who kept the door had been cleaning wheat and had drowsed off to sleep.

7. వారతని పొడిచి చంపి అతని తలను ఛేదించి దానిని తీసికొని రాత్రి అంతయు మైదాన ములో బడి ప్రయాణమైపోయి హెబ్రోనులోనున్న దావీదునొద్దకు ఇష్బోషెతు తలను తీసికొనివచ్చిచిత్త గించుము;

7. Rechab and his brother Baanah stole past her and entered the house, where he was lying on his bed in his bedroom. They struck him and killed him, then cut off his head and, taking the head with them, travelled all night by way of the Arabah.

8. నీ ప్రాణము తీయచూచిన సౌలుకుమారుడైన ఇష్బోషెతు తలను మేము తెచ్చియున్నాము; ఈ దినమున యెహోవా మా యేలినవాడవును రాజవునగు నీ పక్షమున సౌలుకును అతని సంతతికిని ప్రతికారము చేసి యున్నాడని చెప్పగా

8. They brought Ishbaal's head to David at Hebron. 'Here', they said to the king, 'is the head of Ishbaal son of Saul, your enemy, who meant to take your life. Yahweh has avenged my lord the king today on Saul and on his offspring.'

9. దావీదు బెయేరోతీయుడగు రిమ్మోను కుమారులైన రేకాబుతోను బయనాతోను ఇట్లనెను

9. But David answered Rechab and his brother Baanah, the sons of Rimmon, by saying, 'As Yahweh lives, who has rescued me from every danger,

10. మంచి వర్తమానము తెచ్చితినని తలంచియొకడు వచ్చి సౌలు చచ్చెనని నాకు తెలియజెప్పగా

10. when someone told me, 'Saul is dead!' supposing himself to be bringing me good news, I seized and put him to death at Ziklag, and that was how I rewarded him for his news!

11. వాడు తెచ్చిన వర్తమానమునకు బహుమానముగా సిక్లగులో నేను వానిని పట్టుకొని చంపించితిని. కావున దుర్మార్గులైన మీరు ఇష్బోషెతు ఇంటిలో చొరబడి, అతని మంచము మీదనే నిర్దోషియగువానిని చంపినప్పుడు మీచేత అతని ప్రాణదోషము విచారింపక పోవుదునా? లోకములో ఉండకుండ నేను మిమ్మును తీసివేయక మానుదునా?

11. How much more when bandits have killed an upright man in his house, and on his bed! Am I not to demand an account of his blood from you, and rid the earth of you?'

12. సకలమైన ఉపద్రవములలోనుండి నన్ను రక్షించిన యెహోవా జీవముతోడు మాననని చెప్పి, దావీదు తన వారికి ఆజ్ఞ ఇయ్యగా వారు ఆ మనుష్యులను చంపి వారి చేతులను కాళ్లను నరికి వారి శవములను హెబ్రోను కొలనుదగ్గర వ్రేలాడగట్టిరి. తరువాత వారు ఇష్బోషెతు తలను తీసికొనిపోయి హెబ్రోనులో అబ్నేరు సమాధిలో పాతి పెట్టిరి.

12. David then gave an order to the men, who put them to death, cut off their hands and feet, and hung them up beside the pool of Hebron. Ishbaal's head they took and buried in Abner's grave at Hebron.
