1. హెబ్రోనులో అబ్నేరు చనిపోయెనను సంగతి సౌలు కుమారుడు విని అధైర్యపడెను, ఇశ్రాయేలు వారి కందరికి ఏమియు తోచకయుండెను.

1. When Ish-bosheth the son of Saul heard that Abner had died in Hebron, he was very disheartened, and all Israel was afraid.

2. సౌలు కుమారునికి సైన్యాధిపతులుండిరి; వారిలో ఒకని పేరు బయనా, రెండవవానిపేరు రేకాబు; వీరు బెన్యామీనీయులకు చేరిన బెయేరోతీయుడగు రిమ్మోను కుమారులు. బెయే రోతుకూడను బెన్యామీనీయుల దేశములో చేరినదని యెంచబడెను.

2. Now Saul's son had two men who were in charge of raiding units; one was named Baanah and the other Recab. They were sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, who was a Benjaminite. (Beeroth is regarded as belonging to Benjamin,

4. సౌలు కుమారుడగు యోనాతానునకు కుంటివాడగు కుమారుడు ఒకడుండెను. యెజ్రెయేలునుండి సౌలును గురించియు యోనాతానును గురించియు వర్తమానమువచ్చి నప్పుడు వాడు అయిదేండ్లవాడు; వాని దాది వానిని ఎత్తికొని పరుగు పరుగున పారిపోగా వాడు పడి కుంటివాడాయెను. వాని పేరు మెఫీబోషెతు.

4. Now Saul's son Jonathan had a son who was crippled in both feet. He was five years old when the news about Saul and Jonathan arrived from Jezreel. His nurse picked him up and fled, but in her haste to get away, he fell and was injured. Mephibosheth was his name.

5. Now the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite Recab and Baanah went at the hottest part of the day to the home of Ish-bosheth, as he was enjoying his midday rest.

6. గోధుమలు తెచ్చెదమని వేషము వేసికొని వారు ఇంటిలో చొచ్చి, ఇష్బోషెతు పడకటింట మంచము మీద పరుండియుండగా అతనిని కడుపులో పొడిచి తప్పించుకొనిపోయిరి.

6. They entered the house under the pretense of getting wheat and mortally wounded him in the stomach. Then Recab and his brother Baanah escaped.

7. వారతని పొడిచి చంపి అతని తలను ఛేదించి దానిని తీసికొని రాత్రి అంతయు మైదాన ములో బడి ప్రయాణమైపోయి హెబ్రోనులోనున్న దావీదునొద్దకు ఇష్బోషెతు తలను తీసికొనివచ్చిచిత్త గించుము;

7. They had entered the house while Ish-bosheth was resting on his bed in his bedroom. They mortally wounded him and then cut off his head. Taking his head, they traveled on the way of the Arabah all that night.

8. నీ ప్రాణము తీయచూచిన సౌలుకుమారుడైన ఇష్బోషెతు తలను మేము తెచ్చియున్నాము; ఈ దినమున యెహోవా మా యేలినవాడవును రాజవునగు నీ పక్షమున సౌలుకును అతని సంతతికిని ప్రతికారము చేసి యున్నాడని చెప్పగా

8. They brought the head of Ish-bosheth to David in Hebron, saying to the king, 'Look! The head of Ish-bosheth son of Saul, your enemy who sought your life! The LORD has granted vengeance to my lord the king this day against Saul and his descendants!'

9. దావీదు బెయేరోతీయుడగు రిమ్మోను కుమారులైన రేకాబుతోను బయనాతోను ఇట్లనెను

9. David replied to Recab and his brother Baanah, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, 'As surely as the LORD lives, who has delivered my life from all adversity,

10. మంచి వర్తమానము తెచ్చితినని తలంచియొకడు వచ్చి సౌలు చచ్చెనని నాకు తెలియజెప్పగా

10. when someone told me that Saul was dead even though he thought he was bringing good news I seized him and killed him in Ziklag. That was the good news I gave to him!

11. వాడు తెచ్చిన వర్తమానమునకు బహుమానముగా సిక్లగులో నేను వానిని పట్టుకొని చంపించితిని. కావున దుర్మార్గులైన మీరు ఇష్బోషెతు ఇంటిలో చొరబడి, అతని మంచము మీదనే నిర్దోషియగువానిని చంపినప్పుడు మీచేత అతని ప్రాణదోషము విచారింపక పోవుదునా? లోకములో ఉండకుండ నేను మిమ్మును తీసివేయక మానుదునా?

11. Surely when wicked men have killed an innocent man as he slept in his own house, should I not now require his blood from your hands and remove you from the earth?'

12. సకలమైన ఉపద్రవములలోనుండి నన్ను రక్షించిన యెహోవా జీవముతోడు మాననని చెప్పి, దావీదు తన వారికి ఆజ్ఞ ఇయ్యగా వారు ఆ మనుష్యులను చంపి వారి చేతులను కాళ్లను నరికి వారి శవములను హెబ్రోను కొలనుదగ్గర వ్రేలాడగట్టిరి. తరువాత వారు ఇష్బోషెతు తలను తీసికొనిపోయి హెబ్రోనులో అబ్నేరు సమాధిలో పాతి పెట్టిరి.

12. So David issued orders to the soldiers and they put them to death. Then they cut off their hands and feet and hung them near the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ish-bosheth and buried it in the tomb of Abner in Hebron.
