1. ఇది జరిగిన తరువాతయూదా పట్టణములలోనికి నేను పోదునా అని దావీదు యెహోవాయొద్ద విచారణ చేయగాపోవచ్చునని యెహోవా అతనికి సెలవిచ్చెను. నేను పోవలసిన స్థలమేదని దావీదు మనవి చేయగాహెబ్రోనుకు పొమ్మని ఆయన సెలవిచ్చెను.

1. After this, David asked the Lord, 'Should I go up to one of the cities of Judah?' And the Lord said to him, 'Go up.' So David said, 'Where should I go?' And He said, 'To Hebron.'

2. కాబట్టి యెజ్రెయేలీయురాలగు అహీనోయము, కర్మెలీయుడగు నాబాలునకు భార్యయైన అబీగయీలు అను తన యిద్దరు భార్యలను వెంటబెట్టుకొని దావీదు అక్కడికి పోయెను.

2. So David went up there with his two wives, Ahinoam of Jezreel, and Abigail who had been the wife of Nabal of Carmel.

3. మరియు దావీదు తనయొద్ద నున్నవారినందరిని వారి వారి యింటివారిని తోడుకొని వచ్చెను; వీరు హెబ్రోను గ్రామములలో కాపురముండిరి.

3. David brought up his men who were with him, each one with those of his family. They lived in the cities of Hebron.

4. అంతట యూదావారు అక్కడికి వచ్చి యూదావారిమీద రాజుగా దావీదునకు పట్టాభిషేకము చేసిరి.

4. Then the men of Judah came and there they chose David to be king over the family of Judah. They told David, 'It was the men of Jabesh-gilead who buried Saul.'

5. సౌలును పాతిపెట్టినవారు యాబేష్గిలాదువారని దావీదు తెలిసికొని యాబేష్గిలాదువారియొద్దకు దూతలను పంపిమీరు ఉపకారము చూపి మీ యేలినవాడైన సౌలును పాతిపెట్టితిరి గనుక యెహోవాచేత మీరు ఆశీర్వచనము నొందుదురు గాక.

5. So David sent men with news to the men of Jabesh-gilead, saying, 'May the Lord bring good to you. Because you have shown kindness to your king Saul, and have buried him.

6. యెహోవా మీకు కృపను సత్యస్వభావమును అగపరచును, నేనును మీరు చేసిన యీ క్రియనుబట్టి మీకు ప్రత్యుపకారము చేసెదను.

6. Now may the Lord show loving-kindness and truth to you. And I will do good to you, because you have done this.

7. మీ యజమానుడగు సౌలు మృతినొందెను గాని యూదావారు నాకు తమమీద రాజుగా పట్టాభిషేకము చేసియున్నారు గనుక మీరు ధైర్యము తెచ్చుకొని బలాఢ్యులై యుండుడని ఆజ్ఞనిచ్చెను.

7. So now let your hands be strong. Have strength of heart. For your king Saul is dead. And those of the family of Judah have chosen me to be their king.'

8. నేరు కుమారుడగు అబ్నేరు అను సౌలుయొక్క సైన్యాధిపతి సౌలు కుమారుడగు ఇష్బోషెతును మహ నయీమునకు తోడుకొని పోయి,

8. But Abner the son of Ner, captain of Saul's army, had taken Saul's son Ish-bosheth to Mahanaim.

9. గిలాదువారిమీదను ఆషేరీయులమీదను యెజ్రెయేలుమీదను ఎఫ్రాయిమీయులమీదను బెన్యామీనీయులమీదను ఇశ్రాయేలు వారిమీదను రాజుగా అతనికి పట్టాభిషేకము చేసెను.

9. He made him king of Gilead, the Ashurites, Jezreel, Ephraim, Benjamin, and all Israel.

10. సౌలు కుమారుడగు ఇష్బోషెతు నలువదేండ్లవాడై యేల నారంభించి రెండు సంవత్సరములు పరిపాలించెను; అయితే యూదావారు దావీదు పక్షమున నుండిరి.

10. Saul's son Ish-bosheth was forty years old when he became king of Israel. He was king for two years. But the family of Judah followed David.

11. దావీదు హెబ్రోనులో యూదావారిమీద ఏలినకాలమంతయు ఏడు సంవత్సరములు ఆరు మాసములు.

11. David was king in Hebron over the family of Judah for seven years and six months.

12. అంతలో నేరు కుమారుడగు అబ్నేరును సౌలు కుమారు డగు ఇష్బోషెతు సేవకులును మహనయీములోనుండి బయలుదేరి గిబియోనునకు రాగా

12. Now Abner the son of Ner went out from Mahanaim to Gibeon with the servants of Saul's son Ish-bosheth.

13. సెరూయా కుమారుడగు యోవాబును దావీదు సేవకులును బయలుదేరి వారి నెదిరించుటకై గిబియోను కొలనునకు వచ్చిరి. వీరు కొలనునకు ఈ తట్టునను వారు కొలనునకు ఆ తట్టునను దిగియుండగా

13. And Zeruiah's son Joab and the servants of David went out and met them by the pool of Gibeon. One group sat down on one side of the pool, and the other group on the other side.

14. అబ్నేరు లేచిమన యెదుట ¸యౌవనులు మల్లచేష్టలు చేయుదురా అని యోవాబుతో అనగా యోవాబువారు చేయవచ్చుననెను.

14. Then Abner said to Joab, 'Let the young men get up and have a test of strength in front of us.' And Joab said, 'Let them get up.'

15. లెక్కకు సరిగా సౌలు కుమారుడగు ఇష్బోషెతు సంబంధులైన పన్నిద్దరు మంది బెన్యామీనీయులును దావీదు సేవకులలో పన్నిద్దరు మందియును లేచి మధ్య నిలిచిరి.

15. So they stood up and went over by number. There were twelve for Benjamin and Ish-bosheth the son of Saul, and twelve of the servants of David.

16. ఒక్కొక్కడు తన దగ్గరనున్న వాని తల పట్టుకొని వాని ప్రక్కను కత్తిపొడవగా అందరు తటాలున పడిరి. అందువలన హెల్కత్హన్సూరీమని ఆ స్థలమునకు పేరు పెట్టబడెను. అది గిబియోనునకు సమీపము.

16. Each one of them took hold of the head of the one fighting against him, and put his sword into the other's side. So they fell down together. That is why that place was called field of swords, which is in Gibeon.

17. తరువాత ఆ దినమున ఘోరయుద్ధము జరుగగా అబ్నేరును ఇశ్రాయేలువారును దావీదు సేవకుల యెదుట నిలువలేక పారిపోయిరి.

17. The battle was very bad that day. Abner and the men of Israel were beaten by the servants of David.

18. సెరూయా ముగ్గురు కుమారులగు యోవాబును అబీషై యును అశాహేలును అచ్చట నుండిరి. అశాహేలు అడవిలేడియంత తేలికగా పరుగెత్తగలవాడు గనుక

18. Now the three sons of Zeruiah were there, Joab and Abishai and Asahel. Asahel was as fast as a wild deer.

19. అతడు కుడితట్టయినను ఎడమతట్టయినను తిరుగక అబ్నేరును తరుముచుండగా

19. And Asahel ran after Abner. He did not turn to the right or the left from following him.

20. అబ్నేరు వెనుకకు తిరిగినీవు అశా హేలువా అని అతనిని నడుగగా అతడు నేను అశా హేలునే యనెను.

20. Then Abner looked behind him and said, 'Is that you, Asahel?' And he answered, 'It is I.'

21. నీవు కుడికైనను ఎడమకైనను తిరిగి ¸యౌవనస్థులలో ఒకని కలిసికొని వాని ఆయుధములను పట్టుకొమ్ము అని అబ్నేరు అతనితో చెప్పినను, అశాహేలు ఈ తట్టయినను ఆ తట్టయినను తిరుగక అతని తరుమగా

21. So Abner said to him, 'Turn aside to your right or left. Take hold of one of the young men, and take for yourself what belongs to him.' But Asahel was not willing to turn aside from following him.

22. అబ్నేరునన్ను తరుముట మాని తొలగిపొమ్ము, నేను నిన్ను నేలకు కొట్టి చంపినయెడల నీ సహోదరుడగు యోవాబు ముందు నేనెట్లు తలనెత్తుకొనగల ననెను.

22. Abner said again to Asahel, 'Turn aside from following me. Why should I make you fall? How then could I lift up my face to your brother Joab?'

23. అతడునేను తొలగననగా, అబ్నేరు ఈటె మడమతో అతని కడుపులో పొడిచినందున యీటె అతని వెనుకకు వచ్చెను కనుక అతడు అచ్చటనే పడి చచ్చెను. అశాహేలు పడి చచ్చిన స్థలమునకు వచ్చినవారందరు నిలువబడిరి గాని

23. But he would not turn aside. So Abner hit him in the stomach with the end of his spear, so that the spear came out at his back. He fell there and died where he fell. And all who came to the place where Asahel fell and died, stood still.

24. యోవాబును అబీషైయును అబ్నేరును తరుముచు గిబియోనను అరణ్యమార్గములోని గీహ యెదుటి అమ్మాయను కొండకు వచ్చిరి; అంతలో సూర్యుడు అస్త మించెను.

24. But Joab and Abishai went after Abner. When the sun was going down, they came to the hill of Ammah, which is before Giah by the way of the desert of Gibeon.

25. బెన్యామీనీయులు అబ్నేరుతో గుంపుగా కూడుకొని, ఒక కొండమీద నిలువగా

25. The sons of Benjamin gathered together behind Abner and became one army. They stood on the top of a hill.

26. అబ్నేరు కేకవేసికత్తి చిరకాలము భక్షించునా? అది తుదకు ద్వేషమునకే హేతువగునని నీ వెరుగుదువుగదా; తమ సహోదరులను తరుమవద్దని నీ వెంతవరకు జనులకు ఆజ్ఞ ఇయ్యక యుందు వని యోవాబుతో అనెను.

26. Abner called to Joab and said, 'Should the sword destroy forever? Do you not know that it will be bad in the end? How long will you keep from telling the people to stop following their brothers?'

27. అందుకు యోవాబుదేవుని జీవముతోడు జగడమునకు నీవు వారిని పిలువక యుండినయెడల జనులందరు తమ సహోదరులను తరుమక ఉదయముననే తిరిగి పోయియుందురని చెప్పి

27. Joab said, 'As God lives, if you had not spoken, for sure the people would have stopped going after their brothers in the morning.'

28. బాకా ఊదగా జనులందరు నిలిచి, ఇశ్రాయేలువారిని తరుముటయు వారితో యుద్ధము చేయుటయు మానిరి.

28. So Joab sounded the horn, and all the people stopped and went after Israel no longer. And they did not fight any more.

29. అబ్నేరును అతనివారును ఆ రాత్రి అంత మైదానము గుండ ప్రయాణము చేసి యొర్దానునది దాటి బిత్రోను మార్గమున మహనయీమునకు వచ్చిరి.

29. Abner and his men went all night through the Arabah. They crossed the Jordan, walked all morning, and came to Mahanaim.

30. యోవాబు అబ్నేరును తరుముట మాని తిరిగి వచ్చి జనులను సమకూర్చి లెక్కచూడగా దావీదు సేవకులలో అశాహేలు గాక పందొమ్మండుగురు లేకపోయిరి.

30. Joab returned from following Abner, and gathered all the people together. Added to Asahel, nineteen of David's servants were missing.

31. అయితే దావీదు సేవకులు బెన్యామీనీయులలోను అబ్నేరు జనులలోను మూడువందల అరువది మందిని హతము చేసిరి.

31. But the servants of David had killed many of Benjamin and Abner's men, so that 360 men died.

32. జనులు అశాహేలును ఎత్తికొనిపోయి బేత్లెహేములోనున్న అతని తండ్రి సమాధియందు పాతిపెట్టిరి. తరువాత యోవాబును అతనివారును రాత్రి అంతయు నడిచి తెల్లవారు సమయమున హెబ్రోనునకు వచ్చిరి.

32. They picked up Asahel and buried him in his father's grave in Bethlehem. Then Joab and his men walked all night and came to Hebron early the next morning.
