1. తరువాత దావీదు కుమారుడగు అబ్షాలోమునకు తామారను నొక సుందరవతియగు సహోదరియుండగా దావీదు కుమారుడగు అమ్నోను ఆమెను మోహించెను.

1. David's son Absalom had a beautiful unmarried sister named Tamar. Amnon, another of David's sons, fell in love with her.

2. తామారు కన్యయైనందున ఆమెకు ఏమి చేయవలెనన్నను దుర్లభమని అమ్నోను గ్రహించి చింతాక్రాంతుడై తన చెల్లెలైన తామారునుబట్టి చిక్కిపోయెను.

2. He was so much in love with her that he became sick, because it seemed impossible for him to have her; as a virgin, she was kept from meeting men.

3. అమ్నోనునకు మిత్రుడొకడుండెను. అతడు దావీదు సహోదరుడైన షిమ్యా కుమారుడు, అతని పేరు యెహోనాదాబు. ఈ యెహోనాదాబు బహు కపటముగలవాడు. అతడు

3. But he had a friend, a very shrewd man named Jonadab, the son of David's brother Shammah.

4. Jonadab said to Amnon, 'You are the king's son, yet day after day I see you looking sad. What's the matter?' 'I'm in love with Tamar, the sister of my half brother Absalom,' he answered.

5. యెహోనాదాబు­నీవు రోగివైనట్టువేషము వేసికొని నీ మంచముమీద పండుకొనియుండుము. నీ తండ్రి నిన్ను చూచుటకు వచ్చినప్పుడు నీవు­నా చెల్లెలైన తామారుచేత సిద్ధపరచబడిన భోజనము నేను భుజించునట్లు ఆమె వచ్చి నేను చూచుచుండగా దానిని సిద్ధము చేసి నాకు పెట్టునట్లు సెలవిమ్మని అడుగుమని అతనికి బోధింపగా అమ్నోను పడకమీద పండుకొనెను.

5. Jonadab said to him, 'Pretend that you are sick and go to bed. When your father comes to see you, say to him, 'Please ask my sister Tamar to come and feed me. I want her to fix the food here where I can see her, and then serve it to me herself.' '

6. అమ్నోను కాయిలాపడెనని రాజు అతని చూడ వచ్చినప్పుడు అమ్నోనునా చెల్లెలగు తామారు చేతి వంటకము నేను భుజించునట్లు ఆమె వచ్చి నేను చూచుచుండగా నాకొరకు రెండు అప్పములు చేయుటకు సెల విమ్మని రాజుతో మనవి చేయగా

6. So Amnon pretended that he was sick and went to bed. King David went to see him, and Amnon said to him, 'Please let Tamar come and make a few cakes here where I can see her, and then serve them to me herself.'

7. దావీదునీ అన్నయగు అమ్నోను ఇంటికి పోయి అతనికొరకు భోజనము సిద్ధము చేయుమని తామారు ఇంటికి వర్తమానము పంపెను.

7. So David sent word to Tamar in the palace: 'Go to Amnon's house and fix him some food.'

8. కాబట్టి తామారు తన అన్నయగు అమ్నోను ఇంటికి పోయెను.

8. She went there and found him in bed. She took some dough, prepared it, and made some cakes there where he could see her. Then she baked the cakes

9. అతడు పండుకొనియుండగా ఆమె పిండితీసికొని కలిపి అతని యెదుట అప్పములు చేసి వాటిని కాల్చి బొరుసు పట్టుకొని అతనికి వడ్డింపగా అతడునాకు వద్దని చెప్పిఉన్నవారందరు నాయొద్ద నుండి అవతలకు పొండ నెను.

9. and emptied them out of the pan for him to eat, but he wouldn't. He said, 'Send everyone away'---and they all left.

10. Then he said to her, 'Bring the cakes here to my bed and serve them to me yourself.' She took the cakes and went over to him.

11. అయితే అతడు భుజింపవలెనని ఆమె వాటిని తీసికొనివచ్చినప్పుడు అతడు ఆమెను పట్టుకొనినా చెల్లీ రమ్ము, నాతో శయనించుము అని చెప్పగా

11. As she offered them to him, he grabbed her and said, 'Come to bed with me!'

12. ఆమెనా అన్నా, నన్ను అవమానపరచకుము; ఈలాగు చేయుట ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు తగదు, ఇట్టి జారకార్యము నీవు చేయవద్దు, నా యవమానము నేనెక్కడ దాచు కొందును?

12. 'No,' she said. 'Don't force me to do such a degrading thing! That's awful!

13. నీవును ఇశ్రాయేలీయులలో దుర్మార్గుడవగు దువు; అయితే ఇందునుగూర్చి రాజుతో మాటలాడుము;

13. How could I ever hold up my head in public again? And you---you would be completely disgraced in Israel. Please, speak to the king, and I'm sure that he will give me to you.'

14. అతడు నన్ను నీకియ్యక పోడు అని చెప్పినను అతడు ఆమె మాట వినక ఆమెను బలవంతముచేసి అవమానపరచి ఆమెతో శయనించెను.

14. But he would not listen to her; and since he was stronger than she was, he overpowered her and raped her.

15. అమ్నోను ఈలాగు చేసిన తరువాత ఆమెయెడల అత్యధికమైన ద్వేషము పుట్టి అదివరకు ఆమెను ప్రేమించినంతకంటె అతడు మరి యెక్కువగా ఆమెను ద్వేషించి లేచి పొమ్మని ఆమెతో చెప్పగా

15. Then Amnon was filled with a deep hatred for her; he hated her now even more than he had loved her before. He said to her, 'Get out!'

16. ఆమెనన్ను బయటకు తోసివేయుటవలన నాకు నీవిప్పుడు చేసిన కీడుకంటె మరి యెక్కువకీడు చేయకుమని చెప్పినను

16. 'No,' she answered. 'To send me away like this is a greater crime than what you just did!' But Amnon would not listen to her;

17. అతడు ఆమె మాట వినక తన పని వారిలో ఒకని పిలిచిదీనిని నాయొద్దనుండి వెళ్లగొట్టి తలుపు గడియ వేయుమని చెప్పెను.

17. he called in his personal servant and said, 'Get this woman out of my sight! Throw her out and lock the door!'

18. కన్యకలైన రాజకుమార్తెలు వివిధ వర్ణములుగల చీరలు ధరించువారు ఆమె యట్టి చీరయొకటి ధరించి యుండెను. పనివాడు ఆమెను బయటికి వెళ్లగొట్టి మరల రాకుండునట్లు తలుపు గడియవేసెను.

18. The servant put her out and locked the door. Tamar was wearing a long robe with full sleeves, the usual clothing for an unmarried princess in those days.

19. అప్పుడు తామారు నెత్తిమీద బుగ్గిపోసికొని తాను కట్టుకొనిన వివిధ వర్ణములుగల చీరను చింపి నెత్తి మీద చెయ్యిపెట్టుకొని యేడ్చుచు పోగా

19. She sprinkled ashes on her head, tore her robe, and with her face buried in her hands went away crying.

20. ఆమె అన్నయగు అబ్షాలోము ఆమెను చూచినీ అన్నయగు అమ్నోను నిన్ను కూడినాడు గదా? నా చెల్లీ నీవు ఊర కుండుము; అతడు నీ అన్నే గదా, యిందునుగూర్చి చింతపడవద్దనెను. కావున తామారు చెరుపబడినదై తన అన్నయగు అబ్షాలోము ఇంట నుండెను.

20. When her brother Absalom saw her, he asked, 'Has Amnon molested you? Please, sister, don't let it upset you so much. He is your half brother, so don't tell anyone about it.' So Tamar lived in Absalom's house, sad and lonely.

21. ఈ సంగతి రాజగు దావీదునకు వినబడినప్పుడు అతడు బహురౌద్రము తెచ్చుకొనెను.

21. When King David heard what had happened, he was furious.

22. అబ్షాలోము తన అన్నయగు అమ్నోనుతో మంచి చెడ్డ లేమియు మాటలాడక ఊరకుండెను గాని, తన సహోదరియగు తామారును బలవంతము చేసి నందుకై అతనిమీద పగయుంచెను.

22. And Absalom hated Amnon so much for having raped his sister Tamar that he would no longer even speak to him.

23. రెండు సంవత్సరములైన తరువాత ఎఫ్రాయిమునకు సమీపమందుండు బయల్దాసోరులో అబ్షాలోము గొఱ్ఱెల బొచ్చు కత్తిరించుకాలము రాగా అబ్షాలోము రాజకుమారుల నందరిని విందునకు పిలిచెను.

23. Two years later Absalom was having his sheep sheared at Baal Hazor, near the town of Ephraim, and he invited all the king's sons to be there.

24. అబ్షాలోము రాజునొద్దకు వచ్చిచిత్తగించుము, నీ దాసుడనైన నాకు గొఱ్ఱె బొచ్చు కత్తిరించు కాలము వచ్చెను; రాజవైన నీవును నీ సేవకులును విందునకు రావలెనని నీ దాసుడనైన నేను కోరుచున్నానని మనవి చేయగా

24. He went to King David and said, 'Your Majesty, I am having my sheep sheared. Will you and your officials come and take part in the festivities?'

25. రాజునా కుమారుడా, మమ్మును పిలువవద్దు; మేము నీకు అధిక భారముగా ఉందుము; మేమందరము రాతగదని చెప్పినను అబ్షాలోము రాజును బలవంతము చేసెను.

25. 'No, my son,' the king answered. 'It would be too much trouble for you if we all went.' Absalom insisted, but the king would not give in, and he asked Absalom to leave.

26. అయితే దావీదు వెళ్ల నొల్లక అబ్షాలోమును దీవించి పంపగా అబ్షాలోమునీవు రాకపోయిన యెడల నా అన్నయగు అమ్నోను మాతోకూడ వచ్చునట్లు సెలవిమ్మని రాజుతో మనవి చేసెను. అతడు నీయొద్దకు ఎందుకు రావలెనని రాజు అడుగగా

26. But Absalom said, 'Well, then, will you at least let my brother Amnon come?' 'Why should he?' the king asked.

27. అబ్షాలోము అతని బతిమాలినందున రాజు అమ్నోనును తన కుమారులందరును అతని యొద్దకు పోవచ్చు నని సెలవిచ్చెను.

27. But Absalom kept on insisting until David finally let Amnon and all his other sons go with Absalom. Absalom prepared a banquet fit for a king

28. అంతలో అబ్షాలోము తన పనివారిని పిలిచి, అమ్నోను ద్రాక్షారసమువలన సంతోషియై యుండుట మీరు కనిపెట్టియుండి అమ్నోనును హతము చేయుడని నేను మీతో చెప్పు నప్పుడు భయపడక అతని చంపుడి, నేను గదా మీకు ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చి యున్నాను, ధైర్యము తెచ్చుకొని పౌరుషము చూపుడి అని గట్టిగా ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చెను.

28. and instructed his servants: 'Notice when Amnon has had too much to drink, and then when I give the order, kill him. Don't be afraid. I will take the responsibility myself. Be brave and don't hesitate!'

29. అబ్షాలోము ఇచ్చిన ఆజ్ఞచొప్పునవారు చేయగా రాజకుమారులందరును లేచి తమ కంచరగాడిదల నెక్కి పారిపోయిరి.

29. So the servants followed Absalom's instructions and killed Amnon. All the rest of David's sons mounted their mules and fled.

30. వారు మార్గములో ఉండగానే యొకడును లేకుండ రాజకుమారులను అందరిని అబ్షాలోము హతముచేసెనని దావీదునకు వార్త రాగా

30. While they were on their way home, David was told: 'Absalom has killed all your sons---not one of them is left!'

31. అతడు లేచి వస్త్రములు చింపుకొని నేలపడియుండెను; మరియు అతని సేవకులందరు వస్త్రములు చింపుకొని దగ్గర నిలువబడియుండిరి.

31. The king stood up, tore his clothes in sorrow, and threw himself to the ground. The servants who were there with him tore their clothes also.

32. దావీదు సహోదరుడైన షిమ్యాకు పుట్టిన యెహోనాదాబు దీనిని చూచిరాజకుమారులైన ¸యవ నులనందరిని వారు చంపిరని నా యేలినవాడవగు నీవు తలంచవద్దు; అమ్నోను మాత్రమే మరణమాయెను; ఏల యనగా అతడు అబ్షాలోము చెల్లెలైన తామారును బలవంతము చేసిననాటనుండి అబ్షా లోము అతని చంపవలెనను తాత్పర్యముతో ఉండెనని అతని నోటి మాటనుబట్టి నిశ్చ యించుకొనవచ్చును.

32. But Jonadab, the son of David's brother Shammah, said, 'Your Majesty, they haven't killed all your sons. Only Amnon is dead. You could tell by looking at Absalom that he had made up his mind to do this from the time that Amnon raped his sister Tamar.

33. కాబట్టి నా యేలినవాడవగు నీవు రాజకుమారులందరును మరణమైరని తలచి విచారపడవద్దు; అమ్నోను మాత్రమే మరణమాయెననెను.

33. So don't believe the news that all your sons are dead; only Amnon was killed.'

34. అబ్షాలోము ఇంతకు ముందు పారిపోయి యుండెను. కావలియున్న పని వాడు ఎదురుచూచుచున్నప్పుడు తన వెనుక కొండ ప్రక్కనున్న మార్గమున వచ్చుచున్న అనేక జనులు కనబడిరి.

34. In the meantime Absalom had fled. Just then the soldier on sentry duty saw a large crowd coming down the hill on the road from Horonaim. He went to the king and reported what he had seen.

35. యెహోనాదాబు అదిగో రాజకుమారులు వచ్చియున్నారు; నీ దాసుడనైన నేను చెప్పిన ప్రకారము గానే ఆయెనని రాజుతో చెప్పెను.

35. Jonadab said to David, 'Those are your sons coming, just as I said they would.'

36. అతడు ఆమాటలాడ చాలింపగానే రాజకుమారులు వచ్చి బిగ్గరగా ఏడ్వ సాగిరి, రాజును అతని సేవకులందరును దీనిని చూచి బహుగా ఏడ్చిరి.

36. As soon as he finished saying this, David's sons came in; they started crying, and David and his officials also cried bitterly.

37. అయితే అబ్షాలోము పారిపోయి అమీహూదు కుమారుడైన తల్మయి అను గెషూరు రాజునొద్ద చేరెను. దావీదు అనుదినమును తన కుమారునికొరకు అంగలార్చుచుండెను.

37. Absalom fled and went to the king of Geshur, Talmai son of Ammihud, and stayed there three years. David mourned a long time for his son Amnon;

38. అబ్షాలోము పారిపోయి గెషూరునకు వచ్చి అక్కడ మూడు సంవత్సరములున్న తరువాత

39. రాజైన దావీదు అమ్నోను మరణమాయెననుకొని అతనినిగూర్చి యోదార్పు నొందినవాడై అబ్షాలోమును పట్టుకొనవలెనన్న ఆలోచన మానెను.

39. but when he got over Amnon's death, he was filled with longing for his son Absalom.
