1. ఆ కాలమందు యూదా తన సహోదరులను విడిచి హీరా అను ఒక అదుల్లామీయుని యొద్ద ఉండుటకు వెళ్లెను.

1. And it fortuned at that time that Judas went from his brethren and gat him to a man called Hira of Odollam,

2. అక్కడ షూయ అను ఒక కనానీయుని కుమార్తెను యూదా చూచి ఆమెను తీసికొని ఆమెతో పోయెను.

2. and there he saw the daughter of a man called Sua a Cananite. And he took her and went in unto her.

3. ఆమె గర్భవతియై కుమారుని కనగా అతడు వానికి ఏరు అను పేరు పెట్టెను.

3. And she conceived and bare a son and called his name Er.

4. ఆమె మరల గర్భవతియై కుమారుని కని వానికి ఓనాను అను పేరు పెట్టెను.

4. And she conceived again and bare a son and called him Onan.

5. ఆమె మరల గర్భవతియై కుమారుని కని వానికి షేలా అను పేరు పెట్టెను. ఆమె వీని కనినప్పుడు అతడు కజీబులోనుండెను.

5. And she conceived the third time and bare a son, whom she called Sela: and he was at Chesib when she bare him.

6. యూదా తన జ్యేష్ఠకుమారుడైన ఏరునకు తామారు అను దానిని పెండ్లి చేసెను.

6. And Judas gave Er his eldest son, a wife whose name was Thamar.

7. యూదా జ్యేష్ఠ కుమారుడైన ఏరు యెహోవా దృష్టికి చెడ్డవాడు గనుక యెహోవా అతని చంపెను.

7. But this Er Juda's eldest son was wicked in the sight of the LORD, wherefore the LORD slew him.

8. అప్పుడు యూదా ఓనానుతో - నీ అన్న భార్య యొద్దకు వెళ్లి మరిది ధర్మము జరిగించి నీ అన్నకు సంతానము కలుగజేయుమని చెప్పెను.

8. Then said Judas unto Onan: go in to thy brother's wife and marry her, and stir up seed unto thy brother.

9. ఓనాను ఆ సంతానము తనది కానేరదని యెరిగి ఆమెతో పోయినప్పుడు తన అన్నకు సంతానము కలుగజేయకుండునట్లు తన రేతస్సును నేలను విడిచెను.

9. And when Onan perceived that the seed should not be his: therefore when he went in to his brother's wife, he spilled it on the ground, because he would not give seed unto his brother.

10. అతడు చేసినది యెహోవా దృష్టికి చెడ్డది గనుక ఆయన అతని కూడ చంపెను.

10. And the thing which he did, displeased the LORD, wherefore he slew him also.

11. అప్పుడు యూదా ఇతడు కూడ ఇతని అన్నలవలె చనిపోవునేమో అనుకొని నా కుమారుడైన షేలా పెద్దవాడగు వరకు నీ తండ్రి యింట విధవరాలుగా నుండుమని తన కోడలైన తామారుతో చెప్పెను. కాబట్టి తామారు వెళ్లి తన తండ్రి యింట నివసించెను.

11. Then said Juda to Thamar his daughter-in-law: remain a widow at thy father's house, till Sela my son be grown: for he feared lest he should have died also, as his brethren did. Thus went Thamar and dwelt in her father's house.

12. చాలా దినములైన తరువాత షూయ కుమార్తెయైన యూదా భార్య చనిపోయెను. తరువాత యూదా దుఃఖ నివారణ పొంది, అదుల్లామీయుడైన హీరా అను తన స్నేహితునితో తిమ్నాతునకు తన గొఱ్ఱెల బొచ్చుకత్తిరించు వారియొద్దకు వెళ్లెను

12. And in process of time, the daughter of Sua Juda's wife died. Then Judas when he had left mourning, went unto his sheep shearers to Thimnath with his friend Hira of Odollam.

13. దాని మామ తన గొఱ్ఱెల బొచ్చు కత్తిరించుటకు తిమ్నాతునకు వెళ్లుచున్నాడని తామారునకు తెలుపబడెను.

13. And one told Thamar saying: behold, thy father-in-law goeth up to Thimnath, to shear his sheep.

14. అప్పుడు షేలా పెద్దవాడైనప్పటికిని తాను అతని కియ్యబడకుండుట చూచి తన వైధవ్య వస్త్రములను తీసివేసి, ముసుకు వేసికొని శరీరమంతయు కప్పుకొని, తిమ్నాతునకు పోవు మార్గములోన

14. And she put her widow's garments off from her and covered her with a cloak, and disguised herself: And sat her down at the entering of Enaim which is by the high way's side to Thimnath, for because she saw that Sela was grown, and she was not given unto him to wife.

15. యూదా ఆమెను చూచి, ఆమె తన ముఖము కప్పుకొనినందున వేశ్య అనుకొని

15. When Juda saw her he thought it had been an whore, because she had covered her face.

16. ఆ మార్గమున ఆమె దగ్గరకు బోయి, ఆమె తన కోడలని తెలియక - నీతో పోయెదను రమ్మని చెప్పెను. అందుకామె - నీవు నాతో వచ్చినయెడల నా కేమి యిచ్చెదవని అడిగెను.

16. And turned to her unto the way and said, come I pray thee, let me lie with thee, for he knew not that it was his daughter-in-law. And she said what wilt thou give me, for to lie with me?

17. అందుకతడు - నేను మందలోనుండి మేక పిల్లను పంపెదనని చెప్పినప్పుడు ఆమె అది పంపువరకు ఏమైన కుదువ పెట్టినయెడల సరే అని చెప్పెను.

17. Then said he, I will send thee a kid from the flock. She answered: Then give me a pledge till thou send it.

18. అతడు - నేను నీయొద్ద ఏమి కుదువ పెట్టవలెనని అడిగినప్పుడు ఆమె - నీ ముద్రయు దాని దారమును నీ చేతి కఱ్ఱయునని చెప్పెను. అతడు వాటిని ఆమెకిచ్చి ఆమెతో పోయెను; ఆమె అతనివలన గర్భవతి

18. Then said he, what pledge shall I give thee? And she said: thy signet, thy necklace, and thy staff that is in thy hand. And he gave it her and lay by her, and she was with child by him.

19. అప్పుడామె లేచి పోయి తన ముసుకు తీసివేసి తన వైధవ్యవస్త్రములను వేసికొనెను.

19. And she gat her up and went and put her mantle from her, and put on her widow's raiment again.

20. తరువాత యూదా ఆ స్త్రీ యొద్ద నుండి ఆ కుదువను పుచ్చుకొనుటకు తన స్నేహితుడగు అదుల్లా మీయుని చేత మేకపిల్లను పంపినప్పుడు ఆమె అతనికి కనబడలేదు.

20. And Judas sent the kid by his neighbour of Odollam, for to fetch out his pledge again from the wife's hand. But he found her not.

21. కాబట్టి అతడు - మార్గమందు ఏనాయిము నొద్ద నుండిన ఆ వేశ్య యెక్కడనున్నదని ఆ చోటి మనుష్యులను అడుగగా వారు - ఇక్కడ వేశ్య యెవతెయు లేదని చెప్పిరి.

21. Then asked he the men of the same place saying: where is the whore that sat at Enaim in the way? And they said: there was no whore here.

22. And he came to Juda again saying: I can not find her, and also the men of the place said: that there was no whore there.

23. And Juda said: let her take it to her, lest we be shamed: for I sent the kid and thou couldest not find her.

24. రమారమి మూడు నెలలైన తరువాత నీ కోడలగు తామారు జారత్వము చేసెను; అంతేకాక ఆమె జారత్వము వలన గర్భవతియైనదని యూదాకు తెలుపబడెను. అప్పుడు యూదా - ఆమెను బయటికి తీసికొనిరండి, ఆమెను కాల్చి వేయవలెనని చెప్పెను.

24. And it came to pass that after three months, one told Juda saying: Thamar thy daughter-in-law hath played the whore, and with playing the whore is become great with child. And Juda said: bring her forth and let her be brent.

25. ఆమెను బయటికి తీసికొని వచ్చినప్పుడు ఆమె తన మామ యొద్దకు ఆ వస్తువులను పంపి - ఇవి యెవరివో ఆ మనుష్యుని వలన నేను గర్భవతినైతిని. ఈ ముద్ర యీ దారము ఈ కఱ్ఱ యెవరివో దయచేసి గురుతు పట్టుమని చెప్పించెను.

25. And when they brought her forth, she sent to her father-in-law saying: by the man unto whom these things pertain, am I with child. And said also: look whose are this seal, necklace, and staff.

26. యూదా వాటిని గురుతుపట్టి నేను నా కుమారుడైన షేలాను ఆమెకు ఇయ్యలేదు గనుక ఆమె నాకంటె నీతిమంతురాలని చెప్పి మరి యెప్పుడును ఆమెను కూడలేదు.

26. And Juda knew them saying: she is more righteous than I, because I gave her not to Sela my son. But he lay with her no more.

27. ఆమె ప్రసవకాలమందు కవల వారు ఆమె గర్భమందుండిరి.

27. When time was come that she should be delivered, behold there was two twins in her womb.

28. ఆమె ప్రసవించుచున్నప్పుడు ఒకడు తన చెయ్యి బయటికి చాచెను గనుక మంత్రసాని ఎఱ్ఱ నూలు తీసి వాని చేతికి కట్టి - ఇతడు మొదట బయటికి వచ్చెనని చెప్పెను.

28. And as she travailed, the one put out his hand and the midwife took and bound a red thread about it saying: this will come out first.

29. అతడు తన చెయ్యి వెనుకకు తీసినప్పుడు అతని సహోదరుడు బయటికి వచ్చెను. అప్పుడామె నీ వేల భేదించుకొని వచ్చితి వనెను. అందుచేత అతనికి పెరెసు అను పేరు పెట్టబడెను.

29. But he plucked his hand back again, and his brother came out. And she said: wherefore hast thou rent a rent upon thee? and called him Pharez.

30. తరువాత తన చేతిని తొగరుగల అతని సహోదరుడు బయటికివచ్చెను. అతనికి జెరహు అను పేరు పెట్టబడెను.

30. And afterward came out his brother that had the red thread about his hand, which was called Zarah.
