1. ఆ కాలమందు యూదా తన సహోదరులను విడిచి హీరా అను ఒక అదుల్లామీయుని యొద్ద ఉండుటకు వెళ్లెను.

1. And it came to pass at that time that Judah went down from his brethren and turned in to a certain Adullamite, whose name [was] Hirah.

2. అక్కడ షూయ అను ఒక కనానీయుని కుమార్తెను యూదా చూచి ఆమెను తీసికొని ఆమెతో పోయెను.

2. And Judah saw there a daughter of a certain Canaanite, whose name [was] Shuah, and he took her and went in unto her.

3. ఆమె గర్భవతియై కుమారుని కనగా అతడు వానికి ఏరు అను పేరు పెట్టెను.

3. And she conceived and gave birth to a son, and he called his name Er.

4. ఆమె మరల గర్భవతియై కుమారుని కని వానికి ఓనాను అను పేరు పెట్టెను.

4. And she conceived again and gave birth to a son, and she called his name Onan.

5. ఆమె మరల గర్భవతియై కుమారుని కని వానికి షేలా అను పేరు పెట్టెను. ఆమె వీని కనినప్పుడు అతడు కజీబులోనుండెను.

5. And she yet again conceived and gave birth to a son and called his name Shelah. And he was at Chezib, when she gave birth to him.

6. యూదా తన జ్యేష్ఠకుమారుడైన ఏరునకు తామారు అను దానిని పెండ్లి చేసెను.

6. And Judah took a wife for Er his firstborn, whose name [was] Tamar.

7. యూదా జ్యేష్ఠ కుమారుడైన ఏరు యెహోవా దృష్టికి చెడ్డవాడు గనుక యెహోవా అతని చంపెను.

7. And Er, Judah's firstborn, was wicked in the sight of the LORD and the LORD slew him.

8. అప్పుడు యూదా ఓనానుతో - నీ అన్న భార్య యొద్దకు వెళ్లి మరిది ధర్మము జరిగించి నీ అన్నకు సంతానము కలుగజేయుమని చెప్పెను.

8. Then Judah said unto Onan, Go in unto thy brother's wife and marry her and raise up seed to thy brother.

9. ఓనాను ఆ సంతానము తనది కానేరదని యెరిగి ఆమెతో పోయినప్పుడు తన అన్నకు సంతానము కలుగజేయకుండునట్లు తన రేతస్సును నేలను విడిచెను.

9. And Onan knew that the seed would not be his, and it came to pass when he went in unto his brother's wife, that he corrupted [it] on the ground, to not give seed to his brother.

10. అతడు చేసినది యెహోవా దృష్టికి చెడ్డది గనుక ఆయన అతని కూడ చంపెను.

10. And the thing which he did displeased the LORD, and he slew him also.

11. అప్పుడు యూదా ఇతడు కూడ ఇతని అన్నలవలె చనిపోవునేమో అనుకొని నా కుమారుడైన షేలా పెద్దవాడగు వరకు నీ తండ్రి యింట విధవరాలుగా నుండుమని తన కోడలైన తామారుతో చెప్పెను. కాబట్టి తామారు వెళ్లి తన తండ్రి యింట నివసించెను.

11. Then Judah said to Tamar, his daughter in law, Remain a widow at thy father's house until Shelah, my son, is grown; for he said, Lest peradventure he die also, as his brethren [did]. And Tamar went and dwelt in her father's house.

12. చాలా దినములైన తరువాత షూయ కుమార్తెయైన యూదా భార్య చనిపోయెను. తరువాత యూదా దుఃఖ నివారణ పొంది, అదుల్లామీయుడైన హీరా అను తన స్నేహితునితో తిమ్నాతునకు తన గొఱ్ఱెల బొచ్చుకత్తిరించు వారియొద్దకు వెళ్లెను

12. And many days passed and Judah's wife, the daughter of Shuah, died; and Judah was comforted and went up unto his sheepshearers to Timnath, he and his friend Hirah, the Adullamite.

13. దాని మామ తన గొఱ్ఱెల బొచ్చు కత్తిరించుటకు తిమ్నాతునకు వెళ్లుచున్నాడని తామారునకు తెలుపబడెను.

13. And it was told Tamar, saying, Behold, thy father in law goes up to Timnath to shear his sheep.

14. అప్పుడు షేలా పెద్దవాడైనప్పటికిని తాను అతని కియ్యబడకుండుట చూచి తన వైధవ్య వస్త్రములను తీసివేసి, ముసుకు వేసికొని శరీరమంతయు కప్పుకొని, తిమ్నాతునకు పోవు మార్గములోన

14. And she took off her widow's garments and covered herself with a veil and wrapped herself and sat by the gate to the waters by the way to Timnath, for she saw that Shelah was grown, and she was not given unto him to wife.

15. యూదా ఆమెను చూచి, ఆమె తన ముఖము కప్పుకొనినందున వేశ్య అనుకొని

15. When Judah saw her, he thought her [to be] a harlot because she had covered her face.

16. ఆ మార్గమున ఆమె దగ్గరకు బోయి, ఆమె తన కోడలని తెలియక - నీతో పోయెదను రమ్మని చెప్పెను. అందుకామె - నీవు నాతో వచ్చినయెడల నా కేమి యిచ్చెదవని అడిగెను.

16. And he turned unto her by the way and said, Come now, I pray thee, let me come in unto thee (for he knew not that she [was] his daughter-in-law). And she said, What wilt thou give me that thou may come in unto me?

17. అందుకతడు - నేను మందలోనుండి మేక పిల్లను పంపెదనని చెప్పినప్పుడు ఆమె అది పంపువరకు ఏమైన కుదువ పెట్టినయెడల సరే అని చెప్పెను.

17. And he said, I will send [thee] from the sheep a kid [from the goats]. And she said, Wilt thou give [me] a pledge until thou send [it]?

18. అతడు - నేను నీయొద్ద ఏమి కుదువ పెట్టవలెనని అడిగినప్పుడు ఆమె - నీ ముద్రయు దాని దారమును నీ చేతి కఱ్ఱయునని చెప్పెను. అతడు వాటిని ఆమెకిచ్చి ఆమెతో పోయెను; ఆమె అతనివలన గర్భవతి

18. Then he said, What pledge shall I give thee? And she said, Thy signet and thy mantel and thy staff that [is] in thine hand. And he gave them [to] her, and came in unto her, and she conceived by him.

19. అప్పుడామె లేచి పోయి తన ముసుకు తీసివేసి తన వైధవ్యవస్త్రములను వేసికొనెను.

19. And she arose and went away and took off her veil and put on the garments of her widowhood.

20. తరువాత యూదా ఆ స్త్రీ యొద్ద నుండి ఆ కుదువను పుచ్చుకొనుటకు తన స్నేహితుడగు అదుల్లా మీయుని చేత మేకపిల్లను పంపినప్పుడు ఆమె అతనికి కనబడలేదు.

20. And Judah sent the kid by the hand of his friend, the Adullamite, to receive [his] pledge from the woman's hand; but he did not find her.

21. కాబట్టి అతడు - మార్గమందు ఏనాయిము నొద్ద నుండిన ఆ వేశ్య యెక్కడనున్నదని ఆ చోటి మనుష్యులను అడుగగా వారు - ఇక్కడ వేశ్య యెవతెయు లేదని చెప్పిరి.

21. Then he asked the men of that place, saying, Where [is] the cult prostitute of the waters by the way side? And they said, There was no cult prostitute in this [place].

22. And he returned to Judah and said, I cannot find her; and also the men of the place said [that] there was no cult prostitute in this [place].

23. And Judah said, Let her take [the things] for herself lest we be shamed; behold, I sent this kid, and thou hast not found her.

24. రమారమి మూడు నెలలైన తరువాత నీ కోడలగు తామారు జారత్వము చేసెను; అంతేకాక ఆమె జారత్వము వలన గర్భవతియైనదని యూదాకు తెలుపబడెను. అప్పుడు యూదా - ఆమెను బయటికి తీసికొనిరండి, ఆమెను కాల్చి వేయవలెనని చెప్పెను.

24. And it came to pass about three months after, that it was told Judah, saying, Tamar, thy daughter-in-law, has played the harlot; and also, behold, she [is] with child by whoredom. And Judah said, Bring her forth and let her be burnt.

25. ఆమెను బయటికి తీసికొని వచ్చినప్పుడు ఆమె తన మామ యొద్దకు ఆ వస్తువులను పంపి - ఇవి యెవరివో ఆ మనుష్యుని వలన నేను గర్భవతినైతిని. ఈ ముద్ర యీ దారము ఈ కఱ్ఱ యెవరివో దయచేసి గురుతు పట్టుమని చెప్పించెను.

25. When she [was] brought forth, she sent to her father-in-law, saying, By the man whose these [are], [am] I with child; and she said, Discern, I pray thee, whose [are] these, the signet and mantel and staff.

26. యూదా వాటిని గురుతుపట్టి నేను నా కుమారుడైన షేలాను ఆమెకు ఇయ్యలేదు గనుక ఆమె నాకంటె నీతిమంతురాలని చెప్పి మరి యెప్పుడును ఆమెను కూడలేదు.

26. Then Judah acknowledged [them], and said, She has been more righteous than I because I did not give her to Shelah, my son. And he knew her again no more.

27. ఆమె ప్రసవకాలమందు కవల వారు ఆమె గర్భమందుండిరి.

27. And it came to pass in the time of her travail that, behold, twins [were] in her womb.

28. ఆమె ప్రసవించుచున్నప్పుడు ఒకడు తన చెయ్యి బయటికి చాచెను గనుక మంత్రసాని ఎఱ్ఱ నూలు తీసి వాని చేతికి కట్టి - ఇతడు మొదట బయటికి వచ్చెనని చెప్పెను.

28. And it came to pass when she travailed, that [the one] put out [his] hand, and the midwife took and bound upon his hand a scarlet thread, saying, This came out first.

29. అతడు తన చెయ్యి వెనుకకు తీసినప్పుడు అతని సహోదరుడు బయటికి వచ్చెను. అప్పుడామె నీ వేల భేదించుకొని వచ్చితి వనెను. అందుచేత అతనికి పెరెసు అను పేరు పెట్టబడెను.

29. And it came to pass as he drew back his hand, that, behold, his brother came out; and she said, Why hast thou brought this breach upon thee? Therefore his name was called Pharez.

30. తరువాత తన చేతిని తొగరుగల అతని సహోదరుడు బయటికివచ్చెను. అతనికి జెరహు అను పేరు పెట్టబడెను.

30. And afterward his brother that had the scarlet thread upon his hand came out, and his name was called Zarah.:
