1. లేయా యాకోబునకు కనిన కుమార్తెయైన దీనా. ఆ దేశపు కుమార్తెలను చూడ వెళ్లెను.

1. Then went forth Dinah, the daughter of Leah, whom she had borne to Jacob, to see the daughters of the land.

2. ఆ దేశము నేలిన హివ్వీయుడైన హమోరు కుమారుడగు షెకెము ఆమెను చూచి ఆమెను పట్టుకొని ఆమెతో శయనించి ఆమెను అవమానపరచెను.

2. And Shechem, son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the lend, saw her, so he took her, and lay with her, and humbled her.

3. అతని మనస్సు యాకోబు కుమార్తెయైన దీనా మీదనే ఉండెను; అతడు ఆ చిన్నదాని ప్రేమించి ఆమెతో ప్రీతిగా మాటలాడి

3. And his soul clave unto Dinah, daughter of Jacob, and he loved the young woman, and spake to the heart of the young woman.

4. ఈ చిన్నదాని నాకు పెండ్లిచేయుమని తన తండ్రియైన హమోరును అడిగెను.

4. Then spake Shechem unto Hamor his father, saying, Take me this girl to wife!

5. తన కుమార్తెను అతడు చెరిపెనని యాకోబు విని, తన కుమారులు పశువు లతో పొలములలో నుండినందున వారు వచ్చువరకు ఊరకుండెను.

5. Now, Jacob, had heard that he had defiled Dinah his daughter, but, his sons, happened to be with his cattle in the field, so Jacob kept quiet until they came in.

6. షెకెము తండ్రియగు హమోరు యాకోబుతో మాటలాడుటకు అతనియొద్దకు వచ్చెను.

6. Then came forth Hamor, father of Shechem, unto Jacob, to speak with him.

7. యాకోబు కుమారులు ఆ సంగతి విని పొలములోనుండి వచ్చిరి. అతడు యాకోబు కుమార్తెతో శయనించి ఇశ్రాయేలు జనములో అవమానకరమైన కార్యము చేసెను; అది చేయరాని పని గనుక ఆ మనుష్యులు సంతాపము పొందిరి, వారికి మిగుల కోపమువచ్చెను.

7. Now the sons of Jacob came in from the field as soon as they heard, and the men were grieved, and it was vexing to them exceedingly, for, a disgraceful deed, had he done with Israel in lying with Jacob's daughter, seeing that so, it should not be done.

8. అప్పుడు హమోరు వారితో షెకెము అను నా కుమారుని మనస్సు మీ కుమార్తె మీదనే ఉన్నది; దయచేసి ఆమెను అతని కిచ్చి పెండ్లిచేయుడి.

8. So then Hamor spake with them saying As for Shechem my son, his soul hath be-come attached to your daughter, I pray you give her to him, to wife.

9. మీ పిల్లలను మాకిచ్చి మా పిల్లలను మీరు పుచ్చుకొని మాతో వియ్యమంది మా మధ్య నివసించుడి.

9. And exchange ye daughters with us in marriage, your daughters, shall ye give to us, and our daughters, shall ye take to you.

10. ఈ దేశము మీ యెదుట ఉన్నది; ఇందులో మీరు నివసించి వ్యాపారముచేసి ఆస్తి సంపాదించుకొనుడని చెప్పెను.

10. And with us, stroll ye dwell, and, the land, shall be before you, tarry, and go through it, and get possessions therein.

11. మరియు షెకెము మీ కటాక్షము నా మీద రానీయుడి; మీరేమి అడుగుదురో అది యిచ్చెదను.

11. Then said Shechem unto her father and unto her brethren, Let me find favour in your eyes, and, whatsoever ye may say unto me, will I give:

12. ఓలియు కట్నమును ఎంతైనను అడుగుడి; మీరు అడిగినంత యిచ్చెదను; మీరు ఆ చిన్నదాని నాకు ఇయ్యుడని ఆమె తండ్రితోను ఆమె సహోదరులతోను చెప్పెను.

12. Heap on me, exceedingly, dowry and gift, and I will give, just as ye may say unto me, but give me the young woman, to wife.

13. అయితే తమ సహోదరియైన దీనాను అతడు చెరిపినందున యాకోబు కుమారులు షెకెముతోను అతని తండ్రియైన హమోరుతోను కపటముగా ఉత్తరమిచ్చి అనినదేమనగా

13. And the sons of Jacob answered Shechem and Hamor his father deceitfully, and spake (because he had defiled Dinah their sister)

14. మేము ఈ కార్యము చేయలేము, సున్నతి చేయించు కొననివానికి మా సహోదరిని ఇయ్యలేము, అది మాకు అవమానమగును.

14. and said unto them We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to a man that is uncircumcised, for a reproach, it would be to us.

15. మీలో ప్రతి పురుషుడు సున్నతి పొంది మా వలె నుండిన యెడల సరి;

15. Only herein, can we consent to you, If ye will become like us, by circumcising to you every male,

16. ఆ పక్షమందు మీ మాట కొప్పుకొని, మా పిల్లలను మీకిచ్చి మీ పిల్లలను మేము పుచ్చుకొని, మీ మధ్య నివసించెదము, అప్పుడు మనము ఏకజనమగుదుము.

16. then will we give our daughters to you, and your daughters, will we take to us, and we will dwell with you, and become one people.

17. మీరు మా మాట విని సున్నతి పొందని యెడల మా పిల్లను తీసికొని పోవుదుమని చెప్పగా

17. But if ye will not hearken unto us, to be circumcised, then will we take our daughter and be gone.

18. వారి మాటలు హమోరుకును హమోరు కుమారుడైన షెకెముకును ఇష్టముగా నుండెను.

18. And their words looked fair in the eyes of Hamor, and in the eyes of Shechem, Hamor's son;

19. ఆ చిన్నవాడు యాకోబు కుమార్తెయందు ప్రీతిగలవాడు గనుక అతడు ఆ కార్యము చేయుటకు తడవుచేయలేదు. అతడు తన తండ్రి యింటి వారందరిలో ఘనుడు

19. and the young man deferred not to do the thing, because he had delight in Jacob's daughter, he, moreover being more honourable than all the house of his father.

20. హమోరును అతని కుమారుడైన షెకెమును తమ ఊరిగవిని యొద్దకు వచ్చి తమ ఊరి జనులతో మాటలాడుచు

20. So Hamor entered with Shechem his son into the gate of their city, and they spake unto the men of their city, saying:

21. ఈ మనుష్యులు మనతో సమాధానముగా నున్నారు గనుక వారిని ఈ దేశమందు ఉండనిచ్చి యిందులో వ్యాపారము చేయనియ్యుడి; ఈ భూమి వారికిని చాలినంత విశాలమైయున్నదిగదా, మనము వారి పిల్లలను పెండ్లి చేసికొని మన పిల్లలను వారికి ఇత్తము.

21. As for these men, in peace, they are with us let them therefore dwell in the land and go through it, for, the land, lo! it is roomy on both hands before them, their daughters, let us take to us for wives, and our daughters, let us give to them.

22. అయితే ఒకటి, ఆ మనుష్యులు సున్నతి పొందునట్లు మనలో ప్రతి పురుషుడు సున్నతి పొందినయెడలనే మన మాటకు వారు ఒప్పుకొని మనలో నివసించి యేక జనముగా నుందురు.

22. Only herein, will the men consent to us, to dwell with us, to become one people, If we circumcise to us every male, even as they are circumcised.

23. వారి మందలు వారి ఆస్తి వారి పశువులన్నియు మనవగునుగదా; ఎట్లయినను మనము వారి మాటకు ఒప్పుకొందము, అప్పుడు వారు మనలో నివసించెదరనగా

23. Their herds and their substance, and all their beasts, shall they, not be, ours? Only, we must consent to them, that they may dwell with us.

24. హమోరును అతని కుమారుడగు షెకెమును చెప్పిన మాట అతని ఊరి గవిని ద్వారా వెళ్లువారందరు వినిరి. అప్పుడతని ఊరి గవిని ద్వారా వెళ్లు వారిలో ప్రతి పురుషుడు సున్నతి పొందెను.

24. And they hearkened unto Hamor, and unto Shechem his son, even all that were going forth out of the gate of his city, and every male was circumcised, all that were going forth out of the gate of his city.

25. మూడవ దినమున వారు బాధపడుచుండగా యాకోబు కుమారులలో నిద్దరు, అనగా దీనా సహోదరులైన షిమ్యోనును లేవియు, తమ కత్తులు చేతపట్టుకొని యెవరికి తెలియకుండ ఆ ఊరిమీద పడి ప్రతి పురుషుని చంపిరి.

25. And it came to pass on the third day, when they were in pain, that two of the sons of Jacob Simeon and Levi, Dinah's brothers, took each man his sword, and came in upon the city, boldly, and slew every, male;

26. వారు హమోరును అతని కుమారుడైన షెకెమును కత్తివాత చంపి షెకెము ఇంటనుండి దీనాను తీసికొని వెళ్లిపోయిరి

26. Hamor also, and Shechem his son, slew they with the edge of the sword, and took Dinah out of the house of Shechem, and came forth,

27. తమ సహోదరిని చెరిపినందున యాకోబు కుమారులు చంపబడినవారు ఉన్నచోటికి వచ్చి ఆ ఊరు దోచుకొని

27. The sons of Jacob, came in upon the slain and plundered the city, because they had defiled their sister:

28. వారి గొఱ్ఱెలను పశువులను గాడిదలను ఊరిలోని దేమి పొలములోని దేమి

28. their flocks, and their herds and their asses, and that which was in the city, and that which was in the field, they took;

29. వారి ధనము యావత్తును తీసికొని, వారి పిల్లలనందరిని వారి స్త్రీలను చెరపట్టి, యిండ్లలోనున్న దంతయు దోచుకొనిరి.

29. and all their wealth and all their little ones, and their women, took they captive, and seized as plunder, even all that was in their houses.

30. అప్పుడు యాకోబు షిమ్యోనును లేవీని చూచి మీరు నన్ను బాధపెట్టి యీ దేశ నివాసులైన కనానీయులలోను పెరిజ్జీయులలోను అసహ్యునిగా చేసితిరి; నా జనసంఖ్య కొంచెమే; వారు నామీదికి గుంపుగా వచ్చి నన్ను చంపెదరు ;నేనును నాయింటివారును నాశనమగుదుమని చెప్పెను

30. Then said Jacob unto Simeon and unto Levi Ye have troubled me by making me odious among them that dwell in the land, among the Canaanites, and among the Perizzites, I, having only men that may be counted, they will gather themselves, together against me and smite me, and I shall be destroyed both I and my house.

31. అందుకు వారు - వేశ్యయెడల జరిగించినట్లు మా సహోదరియెడల ప్రవర్తింపవచ్చునా అనిరి.

31. And they said, As with a harlot, was he to deal with our sister.
