1. యాకోబు కన్నులెత్తి చూచినప్పుడు ఏశావును. అతనితో నాలుగువందలమంది మనుష్యులును వచ్చుచుండిరి.

1. Then Jacob lifted up his eyes and looked, and lo! Esau, coming in, and with him, four hundred men. So he divided the children unto Leah and unto Rachel, and unto the two handmaids;

2. అప్పుడతడు తన పిల్లలను లేయా రాహేలులకును ఇద్దరు దాసీలకును పంచి అప్పగించెను. అతడు ముందర దాసీలను, వారి పిల్లలను వారి వెనుక లేయాను ఆమె పిల్లలను ఆ వెనుక రాహేలును యోసేపును ఉంచి¸

2. and put the handmaids and their children first, and Leah and her children next, and Rachel and Joseph next;

3. తాను వారి ముందర వెళ్లుచు తన సహోదరుని సమీపించు వరకు ఏడుమార్లు నేలను సాగిలపడెను.

3. but he himself, passed over before them, and bowed himself to the earth seven times, until he had come near unto his brother.

4. అప్పుడు ఏశావు అతనిని ఎదుర్కొన పరుగెత్తి అతనిని కౌగలించుకొని అతని మెడమీద పడి ముద్దుపెట్టుకొనెను; వారిద్దరు కన్నీరు విడిచిరి.

4. Then ran Esau to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and they wept.

5. ఏశావు కన్నులెత్తి ఆ స్త్రీలను పిల్లలను చూచి వీరు నీకేమి కావలెనని అడిగినందుకు అతడు వీరు దేవుడు నీ సేవకునికి దయచేసిన పిల్లలే అని చెప్పెను.

5. Then lifted he up his eyes, and beheld the women and the children, and said What are these to thee? And he said The children wherewith God hath favoured thy servant,

6. అప్పుడు ఆ దాసీలును వారి పిల్లలును దగ్గరకువచ్చి సాగిలపడిరి.

6. Then came near the handmaids, they and their children, and bowed themselves.

7. లేయాయు ఆమె పిల్లలును దగ్గరకువచ్చి సాగిలపడిరి. ఆ తరువాత యోసేపును రాహేలును దగ్గరకు వచ్చి సాగిలపడిరి.

7. Then came near Leah also with her children, and they bowed themselves. And afterwards, came near Joseph with Rachel, and they bowed themselves,

8. ఏశావు - నాకు ఎదురుగా వచ్చిన ఆ గుంపంతయు ఎందుకని అడుగగా అతడు - నా ప్రభువు కటాక్షము నా మీద వచ్చుటకే అని చెప్పెను.

8. Then said he, What to thee is all this camp, which I have fallen in with? And he said, To find favour in the eyes of my lord.

9. అప్పుడు ఏశావు - సహోదరుడా, నాకు కావలసినంత ఉన్నది, నీది నీవే ఉంచుకొమ్మని చెప్పెను.

9. Then said Esau, I have an abundance, my brother, be thine what thou hast!

10. అప్పుడు యాకోబు అట్లుకాదు; నీ కటాక్షము నామీద నున్నయెడల చిత్తగించి నాచేత ఈ కానుక పుచ్చుకొనుము, దేవుని ముఖము చూచినట్లు నీ ముఖము చూచితిని; నీ కటాక్షము నామీద వచ్చినది గదా;

10. Then said Jacob, Nay, I pray thee, if, I pray thee, have found favour in thine eyes, then thou wilt take my present at my hand, For on this account, hath my seeing thy face been like seeing the face of God in that thou wast well-pleased with me.

11. నేను నీయొద్దకు తెచ్చిన కానుకను చిత్తగించి పుచ్చుకొనుము; దేవుడు నన్ను కనికరించెను; మరియు నాకు కావలసినంత ఉన్నదని చెప్పి అతని బలవంతము చేసెను గనుక అతడు దాని పుచ్చుకొని

11. Take, I pray thee my blessing which hath been brought in to thee, because God hath shewed me favour and because I have everything. So he was urgent with him and he took it.

12. మనము వెళ్లుదము; నేను నీకు ముందుగా సాగిపోవుదునని చెప్పగా

12. Then he said, Let us break up and go, and let me go on before thee.

13. అతడునాయొద్ద నున్న పిల్లలు పసిపిల్లలనియు, గొఱ్ఱెలు మేకలు పశువులు పాలిచ్చునవి అనియు నా ప్రభువుకు తెలియును. ఒక్కదినమే వాటిని వడిగా తోలినయెడల ఈ మంద అంతయు చచ్చును.

13. And he said unto him, My lord, is taking note, that, the children are tender, and the flocks and the herds are giving suck with me, and, should I overdrive them a single day, then would all the flocks die.

14. నా ప్రభువు దయచేసి తన దాసునికి ముందుగా వెళ్లవలెను. నేను నా ప్రభువునొద్దకు శేయీరునకు వచ్చువరకు, నా ముందర నున్న మందలు నడువగలిగిన కొలదిని ఈ పిల్లలు నడువగలిగినకొలదిని వాటిని మెల్లగా నడిపించుకొని వచ్చెదనని అతనితో చెప్పెను.

14. Let my lord, I pray thee pass over before his servant, and let, me, lead on in my own easy way, at the pace of the cattle that are before me, and at the pace of the children, until that I come in unto my lord, towards Seir.

15. అప్పుడు ఏశావు - నీ కిష్టమైన యెడల నాయొద్దనున్న యీ జనులలో కొందరిని నీ యొద్ద విడిచిపెట్టుదునని చెప్పగా అతడు అదియేల? నా ప్రభువు కటాక్షము నామీద నుండనిమ్మనెను.

15. Then said Esau: Let me leave, I pray thee, along with thee, some of the people who are with me! And he said Why so? let me find favour in the eyes of my lord!

16. ఆ దినమున ఏశావు తన త్రోవను శేయీరునకు తిరిగిపోయెను.

16. So Esau returned, that day, to his journey towards Mount Seir.

17. అప్పుడు యాకోబు సుక్కోతుకు ప్రయాణమై పోయి తనకొకయిల్లు కట్టించుకొని తన పశువులకు పాకలు వేయించెను. అందుచేత ఆ చోటికి సుక్కోతు అను పేరు పెట్టబడెను.

17. But, Jacob, brake up towards Succoth, and built for himself a house, for his cattle, made he places of shelter, for which cause, the name of the place was called, Succoth.

18. అట్లు యాకోబు పద్దనరాములో నుండి వచ్చిన తరువాత కనాను దేశములోనున్న షెకెమను ఊరికి సురక్షితముగా వచ్చి ఆ ఊరిముందర తన గుడారములు వేసెను.

18. And Jacob came in peace to the city of Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, when he came in from Padan-aram, and he encamped before the city.

19. మరియు అతడు తన గుడారములు వేసిన పొలముయొక్క భాగమును షెకెము తండ్రియైన హమోరు కుమారుల యొద్ద నూరు వరహాలకు కొని

19. And he bought the portion of the field where he had spread out his tent, at the hand of the sons of Hamor, father of Shechem, for a hundred kesitahs.

20. అక్కడ ఒక బలిపీఠము కట్టించి దానికి ఏల్‌ ఎలోహేయి ఇశ్రాయేలు అను పేరు పెట్టెను.

20. And he set up there an altar, and called it, El-elohe-Israel.
