1. శారా జీవించిన కాలము, అనగా శారా బ్రదికిన యేండ్లు నూట ఇరువది యేడు.

1. And the life of Sarah was a hundred and twenty seven years, the years of the life of Sarah.

2. శారా కనాను దేశమందలి హెబ్రోనను కిర్యతర్బాలో మృతిబొందెను; అప్పుడు అబ్రాహాము శారా నిమిత్తము అంగలార్చుటకును ఆమెను గూర్చి యేడ్చుటకును వచ్చెను.

2. And Sarah died in Kirjatharba, it is Hebron, in the land of Canaan. And Abraham went in to mourn for Sarah and to weep for her.

3. తరువాత అబ్రాహాము మృతిబొందిన తన భార్య యెదుట నుండి లేచి హేతు కుమారులను చూచి

3. And Abraham rose up from before his dead and spoke to the sons of Heth, saying,

4. మీ మధ్య నేను పరదేశినిగాను పరవాసినిగాను ఉన్నాను. మృతిబొందిన నా భార్య నా కన్నుల యెదుట ఉండకుండ, ఆమెను పాతి పెట్టుటకు మీ తావున నాకొక శ్మశానభూమిని స్వాస్థ్యముగా ఇయ్యుడని అడుగగా

4. I am an alien and a visitor with you. Give to me a possession among you, so that I may bury my dead from before the eyes.

5. హేతు కుమారులు అయ్యా మా మాట వినుము. నీవు మా మధ్యను మహారాజవై యున్నావు;

5. And the sons of Heth answered Abraham, saying to him,

6. మా శ్మశాన భూములలో అతి శ్రేష్టమైన దానియందు మృతిబొందిన నీ భార్యను పాతిపెట్టుము; నీవు మృతిబొందిన నీ భార్యను పాతి పెట్టునట్లు మాలో తన శ్మశానభూమి ఇయ్యనొల్లనివాడు ఎవడును లేడని అబ్రాహాము కుత్తరమిచ్చిరి.

6. Hear us, my lord. You are a prince among us. Bury your dead in the best of our burying places. Not a man of us will withhold his burying place from you, from burying your dead.

7. అప్పుడు అబ్రాహాము లేచి ఆ దేశపు ప్రజలైన హేతు కుమారులకు సాగిలపడి

7. And Abraham rose up and bowed himself to the people of the land, to the sons of Heth.

8. మృతిబొందిన నా భార్యను నా యెదుట ఉండకుండ నేను పాతి పెట్టుట మీకిష్టమైతే నా మాట వినుడి.

8. And he spoke with them, saying, If it is your desire to bury my dead from before the eyes, hear me. Ask for me of Ephron the son of Zohar,

9. సోహరు కుమారుడైన ఎఫ్రోను తన పొలము చివరను తనకు కలిగియున్న మక్పేలా గుహను నాకిచ్చునట్లు నా పక్షముగా అతనితో మనవిచేయుడి. మీ మధ్యను శ్మశాన భూమిగా నుండుటకు నిండు వెలకు అతడు దానిని నాకు స్వాస్థ్యముగా ఇయ్యవలెనని వారితో చెప్పెను.

9. that he may give to me the cave of Machpelah which he has, which is in the edge of his field. In full silver let him give it to me among you, for a possession of a burying place.

10. అప్పుడు ఎఫ్రోను హేతు కుమారులమధ్యను కూర్చుండి యుండెను. హిత్తీయుడైన ఎఫ్రోను తన ఊరి గవిని ప్రవేశించువారందరి యెదుట హేతు కుమారులకు వినబడునట్లు అబ్రాహాముతో చెప్పిన ప్రత్యుత్తరమేమనగా

10. And Ephron was sitting among the sons of Heth. And Ephron the Hittite replied to Abraham in the ears of the sons of Heth, to all those entering the gate of his city, saying,

11. అయ్యా అట్లు కాదు నా మనవి నాలకించుము, ఆ పొలమును నీకిచ్చుచున్నాను; దానిలో నున్న గుహను నీకిచ్చుచున్నాను; నా ప్రజల యెదుట అది నీకిచ్చుచున్నాను; మృతిబొందిన నీ భార్యను పాతి పెట్టుమనెను

11. No, my lord, hear me. I have given the field to you; also the cave that is in it. I have given it to you. Before the eyes of the sons of my people I have given it to you. Bury your dead.

12. అప్పుడు అబ్రాహాము ఆ దేశపు ప్రజల యెదుట సాగిలపడి

12. And Abraham bowed before the people of the land,

13. సరేకాని నా మనవి ఆలకించుము. ఆ పొలమునకు వెల యిచ్చెదను; అది నాయొద్ద పుచ్చుకొనిన యెడల మృతిబొందిన నా భార్యను పాతి పెట్టెదనని ఆ దేశ ప్రజలకు వినబడు నట్లు ఎఫ్రోనుతో చెప్పెను.

13. and spoke to Ephron in the ears of the people of the land, saying, Only if you would hear me. I have given the silver for the field; take it from me, that I may bury my dead there.

14. అందుకు ఎఫ్రోను అయ్యా నా మాట వినుము; ఆ భూమి నాలుగు వందల తులముల వెండి చేయును;

14. And Ephron answered Abraham, saying to him,

15. నాకు నీకు అది యెంత? మృతిబొందిన నీ భార్యను పాతిపెట్టుమని అబ్రాహామున కుత్తరమిచ్చెను;

15. My lord, hear me; the land is worth four hundred shekels of silver; what is that between me and you? And bury your dead.

16. అబ్రాహాము ఎఫ్రోను మాట వినెను. కాబట్టి హేతు కుమారులకు వినబడునట్లు ఎఫ్రోను చెప్పిన వెల అనగా వర్తకులలో చెల్లు నాలుగు వందల తులముల వెండి అబ్రాహాము తూచి అతని కిచ్చెను.

16. And Abraham listened to Ephron, and Abraham weighed to Ephron the silver of which he had spoken in the ears of the sons of Heth, four hundred silver shekels which passes with the merchant.

17. ఆలాగున మమ్రే యెదుటనున్న మక్పేలా యందలి ఎఫ్రోను పొలము, అనగా ఆ పొలమును దానియందలి గుహయు దాని పొలిమేర అంతటి లోనున్న ఆ పొలము చెట్లన్నియు,

17. And was certified the field of Ephron in Machpelah, which was before Mamre, the cave and the field in it, and all the trees in the field, which were in all its borders around it,

18. అతని ఊరి గవిని ప్రవేశించు వారందరిలో హేతు కుమారుల యెదుట అబ్రాహామునకు స్వాస్థ్యముగా స్థిరపరచబడెను.

18. to Abraham for a purchase before the sons of Heth, with all entering the gate of his city.

19. ఆ తరువాత అబ్రాహాము కనాను దేశములో హెబ్రోనను మమ్రే యెదుట నున్న మక్పేలా పొలము గుహలో తన భార్యయైన శారాను పాతిపెట్టెను.

19. And after this Abraham buried his wife Sarah at the cave of the field of Machpelah before Mamre; it is Hebron, in the land of Canaan.

20. ఆ పొలమును దానిలోనున్న గుహయు హేతు కుమారుల వలన శ్మశానము కొరకు అబ్రాహామునకు స్వాస్థ్యముగా స్థిరపరచబడెను.

20. And the field was certified, and the cave in it, to Abraham for a burial possession from the sons of Heth.
